It's such an encouragement to see someone else out there doing it too.I see this was 5 months ago, how are you doing now? I figured If I quit drinking but continued smoking, the temptation to drink would be too overwhelming. I've quit countless times but this time feels different. It wasn't a new years resolution either. I thought I was having a heart attack the day I quit. I may have even had a minor one. who knows. But that did it for me. The chest pain, vomiting, pain in my lungs, unable to breathe, coughing etc.. I have simply had enough. Keep up the fight ya'll!

Day 1. I've tried many times and failed. I wouldn't say alcohol controls my life, but I feel I "need" a few beers after work to come down from the day and then probably knock back a couple 12 packs on the weekend. I've worked out consistently for years and got in decent shape but I've never been able to take my body to the next level. Also my weekends are very non productive from wanting to do nothing but sit around and drink. Been watching a lot of vids last few days on quitting so here I go again.

To find myself now alone, not knowing what to do with myself. Over the last 10 years I started drinking wine (alone), what started with a few glasses a week, is up to 3 to 4 bottles a week. The last time I was intoxicated I fell down the stairs while carrying firewood to the woodstove in the basement. I smashed my head open and totally passed out. It was January 11th 2017. I was helicoptered to Dartmouth hospital in Lebanon NH from my home in Littleton NH. Nobody thought I would survive - doctors, nurses, therapists, friends and family. I had 3 brain surgeries. I was in the hospital for a year and could not even walk. Age 56. Fortunately strong as an ox from a lifetime of heavy weightlifting and hiking in these rugged mountains. I remembered nothing during that full year and I did not even know where I lived. When I got back home I could only walk a hundred yards using a walker. Slowly graduating to using a beaver cut staff and going further. I now had epilepsy and 6 siezers. Now I walk without help a couple of miles on these mountain trails, a bit unsteady on roots and rocks whereas before I often bushwacked into remote areas with pack and rifle. I shall continue to get better. A year ago I started weightlifting again - before my injury I was very near the NH state bench press record for my age and weight. 5 years ago I had bought several hundred bitcoin at $250 each. I sold half of them for $2 MILLION US dollars after tax. Everybody meets with challenges in life - they can take you down or cause you to overcome in ways that are stronger than ever. This is me. I shall and am coming back whatever may.

Very articulate young man. I really enjoyed listening to your journey through 15 positive outcomes of not drinking. 4 years have passed since that video. I hope you are still on the wagon and living your best life.

6:27 this is so true. After alcohol I became like a child fascinated by many topics and the simplest of things and often have a sense of calm and control and warmness inside.

In my late 60s and have been on a rollercoaster ride with alcohol my entire adult life. It's a daily process for me to stay focused and keep alcohol out of my body. I'm never going to give up. I know if I do the work I will be free. Sober today!!❤

I immediately liked the tone of the video. I "stopped" 3 months ago with 4 exceptions totalling 9 small drinks. I treat them as "accidents" not "drinking in moderation" or any other kind of "management"

The best benefit of not drinking is the money you save, and also being alive to spend it on amazing things, like travel, home, pets, cars, nice clothes, good food & anything that adds to life, but does not take away. Peace and serenity to you, oh & don’t forget to breathe

I've been sober a while and I could relate to virtually every single point u raised. The fear I had to not drink, was the main driving factor behind it and now through help like this, realising and relishing the benefits of not drinking I'm building strength to ensure I never go down that road again! A very honest account of what a life without booze could be, anyone that is still struggling with alcohol should certainly take some comfort from knowing what life they could achieve by not drinking! Very articulate and well thought out thank u so much!
