What are Russians being told about the war in Ukraine? - BBC News

The Ukrainian army said it has made major gains over the last day around the port city of Kherson, after Russia announced its withdrawal from the southern city.
Ukrainian troops have reportedly taken back the key town of Snihurivka, 50km (30 miles) to the north of Kherson.
Kyiv has also claimed big pushes on two fronts near Kherson, including advances of 7km in some places.
Russia said it has started to exit the city - its top gain in the invasion - but the process could take weeks.

It's official line of Russian propaganda. For your information: Russia has never lost to anyone. Russia has never attacked anyone, it only ever defended itself. Russian people are very good-natured and kind people, and because of this others envy them and want to destroy Russia. And, of course, the God is on their side.

Nothing bad will happen to her, don’t worry, some people in Russia have this opinion, but most like Putin because he care about Russia well being and safety. Ukraine got half land from Russia during Soviets without any fight, in a good will of joining together, with Russians on it. Before that Ukrainians didn’t have their own municipality. Then Ukraine insisted to keep the land when Soviet Union collapsed, but turned it’s back on Russia, when Russia was poor. The last drop was Ukrainian coup d’étar in 2014 leading to UkraNization and bringing nato to Russian border. Some very bad decisions in life.

There are Nazis in all parts of the world, sadly. Russia looks more like a facist, Nazi state than ever Ukraine did. No-one believes the de-nazification rubbish that Putin and lavarov spout. Putin has brought more countries to NATO through his actions, when it was only Ukraine requesting membership, before. Some very bad decisions from Putin, indeed.

The west isn't russia-phobic, only Putin phobic . he has proved , time after time, that he can never be trusted. "I'm not going to invade Ukraine" he said. The russian people are innocent of Putin's war, but are arrested if they disagree with it. What kind of country does that to its people? There is no good outcome to this invasion. Not for anyone. Watching Russian TV is very interesting. We assume it’s full of anti-West drum-beating. But (prior to this nonsense) it’s strangely apolitical. Putin appears on TV in a ceremony to give out scholarship awards, or something like that. There are so many of these kinds of things, engineered to create this narrative of him as a kindly and caring man of the people. This is what military analyst Anders Puck Nielsen (whose videos everyone should watch) was talking about earlier in the war when he said that mobilization was going to be a problem for Putin. He’s worked very hard to get the citizens of Russia not to care about politics (it’s illegal to criticize him, so he can sort of afford to just say a thing softly once and leave it at that). But in Russia, everybody actually does believe he is that caring person. You and I know better. But the Russians mostly don’t. Very strange. At some point the narrative has to break down though. I think it’s beginning now.

George Patton was itching to get there and he was no slouch!). They do not look strong at the moment however and the Ukrainians are punching way above their weight which is very impressive.

Most recent one that most people don't know about...1920 and the Bolshevik movement in Russia and it's Red, murderous army that wanted to "liberate" all working men of Europe. Gen. Piłsudski and the greatest men of that generation completely annihilated the vastly superior Red Army without any help from the western countries. Also Poland was the only country in history that occupied Moscow.

Russia has no wish and clearly no ability to expand into NATO territory. Their actions, whilst clearly wrong, are aimed at shoring up their vital security interests as they perceive them, including and especially their control of Crimea. This war would not have happened if it wasn't for the fateful combination of NATO expansionism, anti-Russian Ukranian nationalism and US efforts to establish Ukraine as a proxy state on Russia's border. Having lost 13 million in WWII the Russian's are deeply fearful about the prospect of a further invasion through Ukraine and missiles pointed at them from close by Eastern European countries. However, rather than taking their legitimate security concerns seriously the West carried on dismissing them and undermining their security interests, and this war has been the tragic consequence. Watch "Why Ukraine is the West's Fault" - a lecture by Professor John Mearsheimer of 7 years ago which correctly predicted the current tragedy and read How the West Brought War to Ukraine: How US and NATO Policies Led to Crisis, War and the Risk of Nuclear Catastrophe by Benjamin Abelow. The facts are there for anyone with a sufficiently open mind to consider them.

The problem with the logic of that Putin fan is that it has also "stepped back" from Kharkiv previous to Kherson. It seems to have become a habit for Russian troops to "step back". AND by the way, in their process of "stepping back" they have also gifted Ukraine with a lot of Russian military hardware. So thank you for their "generosity".

For being an influential nuclear military power, I am shocked in the incompetence of Russia. The piece missing in this viewpoint from a knowledgeable serviceman, is the political posturing behind Putin's invasion. From what I understand, Putin didn't expect resistance. The column was an intimidatory measure that didn't expect to be caught up in a fire fight. Like many authoritarian leaders before him, he let his arrogance rule his decisions. Yes men in Ukraine were telling him his army would be welcomed as liberators and the government would flee to exile. Now with a reputation of the uncompromising tough man, Putin has no easy out, except from a well placed bullet, or polonium smeared on his toilet paper. I'm sure he'll find sleep uncomfortable.

Purposely incompetent. This distraction has a function way beyond most people's comprehension, and must be allowed to continue. Ramp up the stakes until the people cry out for whatever authoritarian solution the would-be controllers (globalists, NGOs, Billionaires, tyrants of big government) always wanted in the first place. Problem reaction solution. It works the same way for those behind Putin, too: Reduce freedom; capture opportunity; consolidate power. All whilst pretending to 'protect' the average citizen. It's all so obvious.

( can you think outside of your box?) it reminds me of the story of german and english soldiers during WW2 at xmas time when they stopped fighting for the xmas day and met in no mans land... BOTH sides were shocked when the other side stated, we will win the war because god is on our side... and the other side said NO, god is on our side... Both the english and the germans were shocked to hear the enemy talking like that. so who's side is god really on? and which side is actually being told the truth by their media? and who is more ignorant, those without free press or those who think they have free press?

Putin visits a school in Moscow and speaks about patriotism and the great achievements of the Russian people. The children can then ask the President questions. Igor raises his hand. "I have two questions: 1. why did Russia attack Crimea? And 2. why does Russia want to occupy Ukraine?" "Good questions," Putin replies. At that moment, the bell rings and the children run out of the classroom. After the break, Putin resumes the conversation: "Do you have any further questions?" Sascha raises his hand: "My name is Sascha and I also have two questions: 1. Why did the bell ring 20 minutes earlier? And 2. where is Igor?"

and that, is just victory in reverse! therefore, they are still winning!!...now, all we have to do is figure out how to incentivise this new strategy. I wonder if Ukraine considered just switching labels, and convincing the ruzz-troops that moscow is actually kiev. I feel stongly that this would inventivise the "victory" of the ruz-army, in the right direction. People get lost in the forest all the time afterall, they just need to be pointed in the right direction.
