Family secretly film life in Russian-occupied Ukraine - BBC News

Russia is scrambling to pull its military personnel and citizens out of the city of Kherson ahead of a Ukrainian counter-offensive.
Ukrainian father Dmytro Bahnenko reflects on the months he and his family lived there under occupation and secretly filmed for BBC Eye at great personal risk.
Dmytro, whose day job had been as a local reporter, never thought he'd be filming the invasion of his home city.
Along with his wife Lidia, Dmytro struggles to shelter their five-year-old daughter Ksusha from the war as she increasingly senses the danger around her.
Kherson was the first major city to fall to Russian forces when they invaded Ukraine in February and he began filming the family's lives when Russian soldiers first marched past their window on 1 March.

A year ago i took a refugee from the Cherson region in my house. She told me many things. I could see the fear in her eyes. Since that moment i have set up and managed a refugee centre with 14 people. And i still have a Ukranian mother and her little daughter in my home. I see and feel their struggle every day. I see the pain in their eyes. But they can not talk about everything. They are emotionally blocked. This video makes it so concrete and vivid.... Heart breaking.

I know plenty of people in Ukraine who think the president's office could have found an agreement with Russia by now. Indeed, about March there were peace negotiations that could possibly satisfy both sides but then they cancelled those when Kyev was promised unconditional $$upport from the West. And guess what? Those people cannot say a word. In a best case scenario they'll be accused of treason and in a worst - just disappear. who built Kharkiv Odessa Kherson?Russians are Russian cities that the Communists gave to Ukrainians without the demand of the Russian people. And Kiev is the same Russian city that would be the capital of Russia for a long time. There are millions of Russians living in Ukraine. Why did Americans have the right to independence from Great Britain? Why do other nations have this right and Russians don't? Moreover, Putin is crazy, he started fighting for nothing at all. he announced the demands on February 24 without any recoupment of Ukraine. And Ukraine would have surrendered long ago and a lot fewer people would have died. If not people who are thousands of kilometers away that they themselves are staging wars everywhere decided to spend their people's money in the name of killing Russians. This is not a war in the name of Ukraine and justice. The West itself arranges wars everywhere, changes the government as it pleases. Iraq Libya. If necessary, your governments will destroy anyone, regardless of any international law. And you will be silent, you don't care. And now your governments are not doing everything for peace, they are sending weapons to kill Russians. And you support it. who are you after that?

LOL "brave Ukrainians" This entire war started because of "brave Ukrainians" (neo-Nazi Banderists) who murdered civilians en masse in 2014-2022 before Russia finally gave up on hopeless negotiations and used military force to resolve the problem. And oh boy is it getting resolved....UAF has been obliterated. They have none of their own supplies and equipment to even fight with, everything now is from NATO and most of that has already been destroyed too. Even the troops are coming from NATO. Thankfully all of the "brave Ukrainians" are dead or captured and the 6th wave of mobilization, yes the SIXTH WAVE, they don't even want to fight....hopefully Zelensky gets assassinated before Ukraine loses 2 entire generations to a war started by the CIA Eastern Ukraine isn't really Ukrainian and never was. My mother grew up in Hungary during WW2. She spoke of planes flying overhead while she walked through the fields of her small hometown farming community, bullets sometimes flying around her. Often, she'd wave at the pilots to let them know she's just an innocent little kid, and sometimes, they'd wave back. When the Russians were coming, an American convoy came through her town to retrieve any Americans. My mom was born in NY, USA, but lived with her grandmother to grow up in Hungary, like her own mother. The entire family was split up due to the war. They managed to leave Europe on a ship bound for the United States, but not before her father was murdered. PTSD didn't hit her until years later. I am a child who grew up while she suffered from it. I saw the light slowly go out of her eyes in the throes of the memories she could never erase. This is the despicable outcome of war waged by selfish men who lust for power without conscience. It destroys generations of good people who just want to live their lives in peace with the love of their families around them. Who will be strong enough to say we make war no more forever?!?!

...I have two conflicting story from two family members living in the opposite parts what's now Slovakia. One living west (near Bratislava the capital) said that when Germans occupied their small village, they were polite and civilised. When they heard that Russians are pushing the front, they told the family "Hide daughters and valuables!" When Russian soldiers came it was a disaster. They relieved themselves in the house, they WERE asking for girls and valuables. My aunt's sister were in a pig pen for 2 days until this "liberating" bunch left. The other story is from the eastern part of Slovakia a walking distance from what used to be part of Czechoslovakia, after WW2 it became Ukraine suddenly. Germans past and Russians past. Russian soldiers wanted to take a cow away along with some valuable items, kill the chickens and grandma begged them that she needs to feed her son. When someone shot the office of that 'liberating' bunch, soldiers scattered and were not seen after that. People said that Germans were bad guys during the war, well, local stories beg the difference in that account. So we have to evaluate EVERYTHING what being rammed down our matrix media. If you were not there and if you do not have a person that you personally know YOU JUST DON'T KNOW! I have friends who's family members are in Ukraine and they tell different stories as well. It is popular to say bad Russians. But can you justify the NATO's expansion and atrocities it left behind!? Why there was a suddenly war in former Yugoslavia while up until then EVERYONE there lived peacefully? Why did "Velvet Revolution" happened in Czechoslovakia? It was organised take down of whatever was left of civilised and peaceful countries of Europe. Once you clump different countries under one 'governance' body you can control them all more efficiently. And the leaders have sold their native lands to the powers to be, we all can read between the lines....Pray to the Most High, King of Kings. Without mentioning His name EVERYONE knows who that is.

It is unfortunate that WAR is such a great BUSINESS for a few people. This is exactly why US President Eisenhower in his last speech warned the world about the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, but nothing was done about it. Today this profitable complex is in charge of US foreign policies. The US NEEDS WARS so they can export many weapons. All those hundreds of millions of dollars Biden is offering Ukraine today, are being spent INSIDE THE US Military Industrial Complex factories, Ukraine gets the weapons, not the money.

BTW saw a BBC 'journo' siting low behind a bush in a little hole, pretend he was in a war zone doing a report till a woman in white & pink walked up laughing & asked the bugger what he was doing, she then filmed him with her phone & panned arround showing he was in a park in Lvov. The priest's testimony reveals the truly disgusting disposition of poo-tin's occupiers. Criminals and psychopaths. Worse than animals. Killing them before they can breed will improve the genome of the human race. Let's hope the Ukrainians can kill them soon enough.

This is stuff you read about in history class. It's so sad that this is happening in 2022. Millions of people suffer from a small amount of powerful individuals. Sending your family our thoughts and prayers from Canada.

You and your family will now forever be in my heart. As well as all the Ukrainians. Seeing this truly makes me see how resilient and strong each one of you are. You have a absolutely beautiful family. Keep that little girl safe. She is so innocent and I couldn’t imagine having to go through what you and many have. Forever on my mind and ty for sharing as I know it is a big risk. Please stay safe.❤🇺🇦
