I grew up in the GARBC and this video is spot on
My father was from eastern Kentucky, the heartland of the Old Regular Baptist Church. The main thing a recall that differentiates it from the church described in this video is that the Old Regulars definitely love the King James Bible and see it as the only English version that should be read.

Addition: As I remember, the Old Regulars "line out" their hymns and don't use any instruments in their services, so definitely no debate about contemporary music.

@@dr.casebolt It depends on the church. Some ban instruments and even still use the old shape-note hymnals, which I find fascinating and enjoy hearing because it produces a unique performance (which I promise I don't mean as a backhanded compliment, but it kind of sounds like one now that I re-read it). On the other hand, I've personally been to multiple Old Regular churches that have guitar and organ/piano music. It all depends, I guess. Especially in Appalachia, there's a lot of crossover between churches, and sometimes Old Regular Baptists, Primitive Baptists, Pentecostals and even Christian (denomination) churches seem to share some practices as attendees move back and forth between churches.

No one seems to read the KJV anymore too much. It's the ESV, or the NASB, or one of the others mentioned. My older brother got a masters in theology in a Baptist Seminary, and he refers to the KJV as "archaic". Archaic? Understandably, they do not see their folly with this use of many translations, because they have forgotten what the KJV even said. There are many alterations and not by translation, to the KJV, and other translations as well. There is NO mention of Love in 1 Corinthians chapter 13. Some referred to this chapter as the Chapter of Love. It is not. It could only be the chapter of Charity now. Judge not, lest ye be judged, DOES NOT EXIST IN ANY TRANSLATION. The word Matrix has replaced Womb, Unicorn has replaced wild ox, the wolf now dwells with the lamb, rather than the lion lying down with the lamb. We now have a prophet named, Jeremy. Men are recorded as being able to produce breast milk in Numbers 11:2 and Isaiah 60:16. James 1:25 referred to being a Doer of the Word, but now it's a doer of the WORK, and people will deny it saying the bible cannot change. I have many more examples, for anyone who has eyes to see.

Once again excellent work.
My grandparents grew up in the "Old Regular Baptist" tradition. Specifically Old Indian Bottom Association, and the Indian Bottom Association. They are extremely calvinistic on some ideas (things like inability to seek out God). They also do things like no bible studies, no youth groups, no missionary work, no tithing, and exclusive use of the KJV. They also Line sing, and use no music.

Thank you!
Some of these things are residue from the GARBC separation from the Northern Baptist Convention. During the Modernist schism some congregations lost their property and this caused the GARBC founders to emphasize that they weren't a convention and that the local church had no hierarchy above it. Thank you for what I regard as a fair and accurate description of the GARBC that I grew up in, went to a GARBC approved college, and have been a member for all my adult life.
Nicely done

Have you ever done a video on the Missionary Baptist Church?
I am Missionary Baptist and we use the New Hampshire confession of faith there is the original 1833 and then there is a updated version That Was Written In 1855.
One of the better groups of churches out there along with the IFCA International, Evangelical Free and Open Brethren. Probably the best that goes by the name of Baptist.
I have read that they hold to the New Hampshire confession of faith which I have heard others call Calvinism lite or four point Calvinism but rejecting limited atonement and holding to unlimited atonement. Is this accurate?
Hi pls do a video about bible baptists which are common here in the Philippines
That GARBC sounds like what I am. The church where I go is basically an. "unaffiliated Baptist" church.
Seems like a good denomination
Are GARB or independent Fundamentalist Baptists more conservative or does it vary not only between each other but also within each camp? I attended school at a Calvary Baptist GARB school in the mid 1970's. The core founding group of that church had pulled from the Methodist church. Also what happened to or where do you find true conservative Baptists? Where ladies and girls do not cut their hair and they wear dresses or skirts and avoid gold, silver, and costly array - jewelry?
👍👍👍👏👏👏❤️🤗
I used to go to a Gargage Baptist Church lol
Whats the difference between the denomination, the church ?

Regardless of everything else about them, how can someone say that thou shalt not kill means abortion is immoral yet actively oppose abolition of the death penalty. They say the scripture gives the state (aka government) the authority to use capital punishment but i still find that hypocritical. If the state directly authorized an abortion would that make it okay to these folk? I feel like they giving the state too much authority over what killing is "justified". I think its possible to be anti-abortion and pro-capital punishment without those views conflicting with each other but not with these folks' reasoning on it.
@jay144k

I realize this is an old post, but I want to give some clarity to your question. The command given was don't murder, not don't kill. If they were told not to kill at all, then God would have been a hypocrite by having the Israelites conquer the promised land. God set up capital punishment for certain crimes. This is not murder. This is justice. Killing a baby in the womb is not justice. It is murder.

The denomination is Baptist. The name Regular Baptist is a fellowship of like-minded churches. Our church was in GARBC fellowship when I first joined. A new pastor led the church out, although I'm not sure why. We would agree to everything touched on here. He arrived on maintaining an Independent Baptist stance, but I would believe that fellowship with them wouldn't keep us from that.

Shalom! Would you please do an in depth video on the Hebrew Pentecostal Federation? Their churches are called “House of God.” They are Hebrew Christians. Similar to messianic Jews, both testaments are of equal value, keep a strict kosher diet as outlined in the Torah, & you can find many of them wearing kippahs (or yarmulkes), the mandated holy feasts (or holy days [Yom Kippur, Rosh ha Shanna, Chanukkah, etc.]), & maintain a Presbyterian governmental polity. Their most notable member was singer, Marvin Gaye who grew up in their ministry before growing up, & turning to secular music. Shalom!
