My cat’s “zoomies” are during the day. Never thought much of it. She just Tokyo drifts into a room, asserts her superiority with ears flattened and then resumes tearing ass through the house. She is currently training for the marathon.

I'm chronically ill so I have a routine of medication. My fur baby is 16, newly diagnosed with hyper thyroid-ism so I have his pill/food routine set to mine. We both get tired quickly when we play together. I'm happy when he gets the Zoomies. We both spend so much time sleeping. We're a good match that way.

My cat gets the "zoomies" right before I go to bed when I'm brushing my teeth. By the time I'm done with my nightly routine, she is waiting by the bedroom door to go to sleep. She is the most polite cat, I've ever met! I've always thought, she was just getting her cardio in before bed! She is an older cat, but is very young at heart!

My cat has two modes: entirely silent and thunderous herd of elephants. Silent mode means she wants to be unnoticed and will be annoyed if you acknowledge her presence. Thunderous herd mode means if you ignore her you will regret it.

Ha ha don't ya just love cat's.i did say it still happens.usually though it's a short burst then he konks out. He just had one on my way to bed so I had a play with him and now he is having a lie down. He is still only 6 MTHS so he plays and we play, he doesn't mind playing on his own because we can hear him running and pouncing about through ceiling, bless him.

It's honestly was a eureka moment for me when I realized that my cat is fully capable of running 8000 mph completely silently or very loudly because it means she is choosing to be loud or to be quiet.. Everything she does has meaning and she is communicating something I just gotta listen and "talk" back. 😁

Mine is a talker. If he wants to eat he will cry and whine. Then he'll wait silently in the kitchen. Or he'll stand right behind me when I'm cooking. Then amount of times I've tripped over him.

My brother told me the zoomies are called FRAP. Frequent random activity periods. He learned it in psychology I think. My cat’s name is Chi Chi, so when she does this, I call her Frappuccino 🤣

My cat literally asks for zoomies: after lunch or dinner he starts crying and calling for us, and when we show up he runs away like a rocket, so we are compelled to chase him through the house. The good thing is, he sleeps all night afterwards

My bunny used to chase the 3 cats through the apartment, then bank off the wall and launch himself over them, whereupon they would chase him across and then repeat. This could go on for 10 minutes. Don’t know what the people in the apartment below us thought!!

That's funny. Mine pretends that I'm dangerous, she spies on me and runs away when I come near. She likes it best if I saunter after her, giving her time to find a new hiding spot. If I corner her, the game is over and she wants to be pet.

I'm a night owl anyways, so I've never been affected by my cat's "zoomies". I find them rather entertaining. 😄

I always love it when they get them

When my cat gets the zoomies, I use that opportunity to play with him and chase him all around the house until all his energy is spent and then he gets calm and its all over till the next time. I will add that the inconvenience about this is that it always happens around the time i have to leave for work or appointments so i am almost always late. But i take the time to do this for him. What else can you do but love the little buggers😻

My cats never have the "Zoomies" in fact I have to turn them over every two hours or they go flat on one side!

I was wondering about this... I’ve heard of cats running around crazy and yowling in the middle of the night, but our cats have never done that. Even growing up. But that makes so much sense because our cats have always had schedules. My mom always said, “children and pets need routines.” My cat now has a sleep routine, food routine (which she ignores and eats whenever she pleases), medicine routine, and a play routine.

my first cat and first pet. been keeping food in her bowl because she hid out and didn't eat for 36 hours when she first got here. after two weeks her appetite improved, just under 3/4 cup of food a day. i'm hesitant to introduce a food schedule. she's toy shy, but i hang in there trying to get a few pounces out of her, 2 to three times a day for 15 minutes. recently discovered her favorite toy is a mouse shaped laser, but trying not to frustrate her. works best when the final laser pounce is right by a treat. didn't placate her at all to end the laser on a toy, she seemed to remain on the hunt, like she knew that toy wasn't the laser mouse. Right now, she ignores me except for the laser play time. Also, I am not looking forward to dealing with fleas. Not sure about this whole "pet" world. Not getting any love, but she is cute to watch bouncing around.

I just wanted to say thank you! My cats suddenly started fighting after being friends and cuddle buddy's for seven months. I had been doing a lot of research and somehow I got turned on to my cat from hell and because of that show, my boyfriend and I have been able to see things we didn't know we had been doing wrong and have started the reintroduction process and are working to better catify our apartment. We had felt so defeated and lost the past few months and now we are so hopeful and determined. Thank you for putting all this information out here and all you do. 🙂

Same thing happen to my 2 brother cats - who got along fine for 8+ years. The issue for me was I'd moved from a house to an apartment and neighbors indoor/outdoor cat was spraying outside and driving them crazy. Vet gave me two options medicate them both or get rid of one of them. I took the third option and adopted two sister cats their age. Now there is 'peace in the valley' (boys/girls sleep together and groom one another). PS - Springtime seemed when the combative behavior was the worst..

Same thing happened to me... I moved and the nee neighbors outdoor cats are making my cats nuts... They were best friends when we first got here and now there has been blood 4 times in the last month... Its so much stress on top of moving. I cant leave them alone together at all now. I feel like my family is broken up and fighting and they wont ever like eachother again.

@@saminneehh I have a 6 week old cat and he gets put in his box at night then does zoomies during the day and when I get off work. I make sure to play a lot before bed with him and again in the morning. I won't feed him till he's exhausted from play and has used the litter box in the mornings. Then he gets to go in the box for grooming and naps till my roommates wake up and play with him.

@@saminneehh I have four cats and basically I just lock them in my room during the night bc they sleep with me or my brothers, and after a while they get used to it. Also routine, We do sleep quite late tho. They wake up at around 6 to pee so I just open the door, then they eat and go back to sleep until 9ish which is when I get breakfast, they are active and then I play with them for a bit, sleep during the afternoon eat some and around 6 or 7 pm they get very active for a little while, then relax, then around 10pm it's play time and they get the zoomies with each other, after that I give them food super late, I feed them before bed bc after eating they groom and grooming gets them super sleepy so yea...I sleep around midnight tho or even later so yeah it works for us.

When my Kitties get into this mood, I usually just say, "Oh... It's time for Crazy Eyes or Bat-Cat-Time!" They usually get this funny look in their eyes and their ears flatten out just prior.

Love this guy and his love for cats. He actually cares about cat-kind and gives great advice. Zoomies are so cute but yes cats need the routine. Walking my Siberians helps.

Agreed! I'm kind of disappointed that he made out zoomies to be some bad thing that needs to be stopped. Who in their right mind would spend hours a day trying to convince a cat to play when they don't want to only to prevent them from playing when they do want to? 🤦‍♂️

We have adopted, by family member moving, a cat whose name is Zoomie! Got his name from just that! 😻

I keep my cat on a good cat schedule and she still does zoomies. I personally don't mind zoomies, as its funny and hers don't happen at night anyway. Its funny and cute to watch.

Our cats have zoomies at all different times of day, they’re half outdoor and half indoor cats so it doesn’t happen often but it’s glorious when it does!

Interesting to read about so many cats having the zoomies after going to the litter box. My first cat, a neutered male, used to do that when I first got him, but did it less and less once I discovered raw feeding. My current one, a spayed female, doesn't do the zoom post-litter box. I wonder if some of this is due to gastro-intestinal issues such as constipation? Most cats who are fed mostly kibble tend to be chronically dehydrated because they just don't drink enough. Cats are descended from desert felines that got all of their needed water from their prey, not supplemented by drinking water.

My 2 cats literally sleep on me all night long! It's the cutest thing~ I go to sleep with a cat snuggled to my chest and wake up the same way. It keeps me very happy!

On lazy days when I haven't played with my cats, the male will get the zoomies and he runs around the house making monkey sounds while the female just sleeps.

I think the comedy of cats is the whole reason we love them so much! I do think the random call out at 2 AM from the echo of the basement followed by zoomies, is hard to ignore. 🤣

I thought my cat, a female named Kevin (she's long-haired and resisted examination, lol) had the zoomies. As I found out later, this wasn't the case. That afternoon she had sat in the kitchen watching under the stove attentively. She'd barely eaten or moved for hours. Then I heard her run and scramble. She walked in, a live mouse in her mouth. She knew we'd take it off her, so she went under the sofa. She put down the mouse and it ran for its life! I was like, "Oh no, I hope I don't find it in my shoe later." Because one day my daughter had put on her shoe, felt something move, then screamed and kicked it off--it was a baby mouse. 😮 Anyway, that night Kevin was digging, running and scrambling. I had fallen asleep in a recliner. I got up around 3:30 because it was suddenly very quiet. When I got back from the bathroom I went to collect my glass and step into my sandals. I turned around and felt a really wet squish under my sandal. I freaked. I turned on my phone's flashlight and sure enough, it was a dead mouse. Kevin had placed it carefully in front of my chair, possibly as a gift. 😲😦 I had to clean up mouse innards with the last of my Clorox wipes.

@@KittyPepperPhd it's $5 to fix a hole yourself - time to put your big boy panties on. And if the landlord refuses to take care of a pest issue. Document it, report it and then treat it yourself and withhold funds. If they go to evict you take it to civil court and sue for damages and moving fees. You can get to the basement through a store on the ground floor, but the proprietor will neither give the other tenants access nor fix the hole themselves. The store tenant and the building owner keep going back and forth over who is responsible for what, because they're cheapskates. The one guy owns the building but the restaurant/bakery lady has the only key. She wouldn't even allow the cable guy to hook up internet! There is no access through the back yard (if I were thinking of fixing it myself) because the next door neighbor shares the yard and keeps his huge dog back there. Plus he keeps guns. If you'd like to take a crack at it, feel free. You might have to kill the dog and the guy next door, but a gutsy, able-bodied person like you must have heavy duty, bullet-proof and bite-proof big-girl panties! Thanks for your "help". This is a city with a corrupt government, and the courts are closed right now. I'm not rich. My cat and 17 year old daughter just killed a rat in here....very depressing. I hope none of these things are rabid.

@@KittyPepperPhd And here I was, thinking I was living bad. Sure, I'm not a big fan of my landlord, but at least I have full access to the basement, and could install TV/Internet freely. (We split the bill, as I had to move out of the old house, which he owned too, but he had destroyed the cable hook-up in the new house when he renovated it, so we went dutch on that.) Of course he then expected me to share it with other tenants, but I'm friendly, not stupid, lol. But I have many issues with him, the most recent one being him refusing to replace a broken living room window. Not broken as in broken glass, but the mechanism to open it broke inside it a couple of years ago, and he's not changed it yet, despite me asking him a couple of times to do so. But still, my situation sounds like a dream, compared to yours. Or maybe you see it differently, let me know.

I have multiple cats. I have shown my displeasure with their antics during my nighttime sleeping. So.....they are in the habit now, of getting their zoomies out of the way right before bedtime. Also they wait until I wake up, before rezooming. See what I did there? I am a lucky guy. I have a bunch of fur buddies. Who love me and I them. And for the most part we respect our collective me times. My fur buddies are keeping me sane right now. I am blessed. Bye.

I watched enough of Jackson’s videos that when I recently adopted my first kitten I knew to play right before bed to avoid nighttime zoomies, thanks Jackson!

I noticed one of my cats got the Zoomies every time she had to make a number two in the litter box. There would be about 10 minutes of her Zumiez and then she would visit the litter box and chill out until the next litter box routine.

I love when my cat does these! His little chatters and meows as he runs are so cute

I’ve raised a kitten at 4 days old from where I found her under a loading dock at work in very dangerous area where her & brothers survival was not going to happen. So I monitored them for 4 days and noticed the momma was not coming around & decided they were abandoned and again in a very uninhabited place. So a kitty group I found on FB cared for her Brothers and I adopted Cali. She is my first companion I’ve had on my own and honestly it’s been a challenge. Your advice has really helped me emotionally control myself and her. Learning how to handle have a cat companion has become fun & enjoyable. She is now 7 weeks and is growing healthy & happy. Your standard 3 R’s plus the other 3’s have really helped in so many ways. I use them in an order that particularly works for my schedule and hers. My first cat knocked down a crystal vase in the middle of the night during zoomies. Scary stuff to wake up to at 2am!

I love it when my 2 catkids have the zoomies at 2 in the morning, jumping over me in bed, sometimes twice! They are having a blast- and go to sleep after a good run.

My urges toward cat videos lead to finding Jackson. I have a new favorite animal. Ranking under our wardens, ofcourse, but I do quite like him!

Our (once super lazy) cat started getting zoomies more frequently after we changed his diet to mainly raw meat. He's generally more active and energetic now :D

I love when my cat has the zoomies, she's overweight but she has lost a lot of weight and she got her zoomies back last year :)

My upstairs neighbor has nine cats right now (because one of them, while waiting to be fixed) got out of the house and came back with a full belly, and she doesn't want to take them to shelter, while she finds them homes. They all have zoomies. I can hear a thunderous loop around my head most of the day and night. I actually love it. It cracks me up. I am trying to move, and I hope that whoever moves in here when I leave also loves it.

My cat has the zoomies only for about 60 seconds every morning usually falling between 3 - 4 am. He always chooses a hallway and never damages anything (or anyone). He will yowl only once or twice. I swear the yowl sounds like the word "here", but maybe I have been self-quarantined way too long?

Mine is afraid of throwing up and gets the zoomies when she starts urping. The best way I know how to handle it is to just calmly let her make her mess and not exaggerate the issue by trying to catch her.

Sometimes we have Zoomies: The Musical at our house.

My cat still zooms with routine meals, play,cuddle and sleep schedule. But he has some sort of brain issue because he’s 7 and has mentally and function of 8 month old. Yes he been tested and thoroughly vetted and can’t find anything wrong. My vet and I both think either mom was malnourished or during birth he was deprived of oxygen. He is adopted so we don’t know his early days. That said, I love you Jackson your videos are amazing keep up the good work!

My Finn is a Bengal/Tabby and this man’s energy has no end 🙃 I’ve done all this plus got a running wheel. He’s unstoppable 😂

My 20 year old cat gets the zoomies. She runs around until she gets sick. It’s cute and I love her doing it minus the vomit.

I personally love it. It means that the cat is absolutely content.

my cat loves to use all his energy while watching my mom garden. we have a lower tree branch he can easily climb, always looks funny always has a good time and always uses energy to show off

I used to love zoomies but i took in a stray cat and now i think that the two wear each other out they still zoom but out in the back yard.

Def my cat! Although my sweet Awizo sleeps while I am sleeping (any time - day, night. I am sleepieng = my cat sleeps) he does have that 'zoomies' moments during daytime OR just before going to sleep. I compare him to the baby - utilizing his last energy resorts before going to bed. LOVE to watch your episodes, it helps a lot to structure my own thoughts and knowledge/experience and to come to some conclusions. Such as - my cat needs a ROUTINE :O I AM SHOCKED! I never knew he cared! Thank you!!!!!

My 2 cats zoomie-chase one another during the day and tbh I love it. Typically one wants to play and the other doesn't, so she'll annoy or scare her somehow to get her into "I'm gonna get you" mode, then when they've had enough they cuddle and groom and sleep. They grew up together and super love each other, it never ever gets violent, and this is the only kind of exercise they've ever been interested in, so I might as well sit back and enjoy the show.

I've got a huge country yard and when the sun is out and the birds are chirping it's an incredible site to watch the zoomies en mass!

I never had any issues with this...when mine does get it late at night, they never last long anyways. lol

Scientific explanation: it's called the ekkekkekkek noise 😂 it's a hunting instinct when they get excited. they may be trying to bird-call to lure them, altho not quite spot-on

I honestly think no matter what schedule they’re on, cats will do what they want, and the love going nuts! My cat plays and then gets zoomies! But she’s ten and came to me from a restricted life. I think she’s making up for lost time playing😍

I love it when my cat gets the zoomies! I hadn’t thought of it in any negative way before. So your explanation is enlightening. But even if I mastered the routine you suggest, I would hope he would still occasionally get the zoomies. (He rarely gets the zoomies at night.) My cat is approaching 17 so this kind of energy explosion suggests to me he’s still got it!

When I read the title I thought that you were talking about my cat disrupting my lessons on Zoom.
