    Trudy has convinced me that women are the future of Africa. She aced this one. 1. She comes with an open mind and actually listens to what people have to say 2. She does not try to preach pan Africanism to people, trying to tell people what they should think 3. She lets people express themselves uninterrupted 4. Does not try to project herself as a star 5. Is comfortable speaking with people of different races and backgrounds 6. Does not express a hatred of the west (keeps her personal opinions to herself) Many of us in the Caribbean are not surprised at all at the reactions she has been getting in the States. We know that it’s silly to judge a country by what the media says, you have to talk to people on the ground to get a true picture of what’s going on. Some of us in Jamaica also studied Achebe’s book in Literature class, so have some idea of African culture. So happy she’s doing this. Good job!

    Current young African leaders are embracing Pan-Africanism. It is not a bad thing. (It is the blueprint for unity, independence and economic growth) Chinua Achebe's wonderful books were written long ago, Modern Africa is a different place. The West will be loved when they start doing right by Africa. Your page is blank .... ???? 🙂🙂

  • @feonasmith9226

    @feonasmith9226

    3 ай бұрын

    @@ValTyalinpart of the confusion here is that some Africans see ‘the west’ as some boogie man to be conquered. The west is a collection of nations and people. Some of those people are members of the African diaspora that people keep trying to reach out to. They live in the west and have some western values. There is no scenario in which pan Africanism will be all African values and culture to the exclusion of every other culture. Open mindedness is needed, just from the way they treat Trudy about how she chooses to dress, I can see people are having a problem with that.

    You and your husband are doing good work of promoting positive images of Africa to the world. I as Canadian born and rise here in the wilderness of North America had visited Africa twice to Ghana that is where Woda Maya is from. My Jamaican father was against it because what the media was showing Africa had serious war in Congo. I also had argument with my supervisor because he did not belief me there have Africans driving nice German cars like BMW and living in three storage mansions.

    @@EllohgoatAt this point I choose to agree with you, having lived in the West myself. It can get too much; it takes a toll on you if you don't have thick skin to repel all the damage the media has done, which is quite something! So yes, whoever wants to come, they are welcome. Whoever doesn't, our life here in Afrika and as Afrikans anywhere around the world goes on.
