What Aliens Might Be Like

Ғылым және технология

Co-hosted by the SETI Institute and Chabot Space & Science Center
With Seth Shostak, SETI Institute
When most people think of aliens, they figure that they’re probably little gray guys with big eyes and no hair. And they never smile. After all, that’s what you see on TV and in the movies. But as scientists seek evidence of real aliens, do they have any idea of what they might find? Join us for an exciting talk with Seth Shostak to learn all about what aliens might be like! This event will be great for people of all ages, but especially families with kiddos 8-12 years old!

At 23:40 Seth talks about Tiktaalik, the ancestor of all land animals. I never hear anyone in SETI talk about the fact (except for things like plants, insects, microbes, etc.) that, of all the forms of life in the ocean, only one ever went onto land. From that we might guess that land animals are rare in the universe. It would be a huge filter because intelligent ocean dwellers would have a harder time inventing technology. And they might be more common than land intelligence. And if any developed on Earth there is less chance we would have any fossil evidence from the oceans.

How do we plan to communicate with aliens with whom we establish contact, when we have no idea of what their languages are like? Has anyone created an artificial language that would be used to exchange information (assuming that they didn't pick up English by watching old Seinfeld shows)? That artificial language would be immensely easier for the aliens than English, with all its logical inconsistencies.

Very true. The moderator seems to really struggle with reading out loud. He obviously did not prepare the introduction himself or even bother to read in advance. He really manages to screw the whole show. What a shame because in the right hands this would have been enjoyable to watch.

Can you estimate how many habitable planets there are within a few dozen light-years on the same plane as our solar system, allowing them to notice the occlusion caused by the transit of our big planets Jupiter and Saturn?

  • @PeterGibbonns

Estimate that? How would you expect anyone to answer the that, like you want a more specific estimate than a billion(s).

After 2 years you may already be aware, but in 2021 Kaltenegger and Pepper estimated the number of stars that would see Earth as a transiting exoplanet. Not sure what distance limits they used, but they estimated 1400 stars including 128 G class stars like our sun.

Maybe the aliens have workers or soldiers like ant colonies do. What if the aliens had no or limited digits and used other races from other planets to do all the manual work? So many what if's, and it's great that we can think like that.

The funder of SETI does a much better Job without SETI right now. What Will it take to make you see that it is very obvious and completely disclosed? Probably a miracle i bet

Their not coming here for the surf and turf at dead lobster. Our weak ass knowledge makes us fodder. So many clocks running at different rates. Their timing to hit exactly this century this year this minute. It seems so ludicrous to even contemplate. But if you feel a need to listen. Fine. Go for it. Sending drones first seems to me as practicable. We have made feeble voyagers. The photo of a dog listening to a old phonograph. Good luck. I wouldn't give you a dime.

Very soon will be our galaxy's ship from 2,9 bill. age civilization... Aldebaranians (bats in the our nature). "Our star in attention" - Willem 1'th van Oranien... If interesting their the very surprising secret (they do impress this to uis...) - the big star of this civilization - Christ Valkyrie from the other galaxy's civilization, which age is 218 billions. y. a. Valkyrie... Are the few Christs in this civilization from the planets, which "age is like the bigger..." An example - Balius from 112 bill. a. Balius (our galaxy... Specie - horses). Are million of the Estonians from our specie's planet - 1257 a. Altus. Are people from the other closer (TO US...) medieval our specie's planet... It is 782 a. Jevas planet (in the our time it should be 13'th Century's planet... a person in age 27 the years there - it is a person in age 42 the years here)... Sa le va (such do re mi). Rome is Katana... It is a 2'th fly to us in this year... Why..? Nah... Wish to be... To show, that it is an important THEIR space...

Was a ship of 603 bill a. Lazius. His direction now - this 782 y. age's planet... This civilization (I CAN TO SAY ALRREADY) plans to do the colony in the constellation of Libra... So... This fly of "Tekana" was like the wis to show, that they do know "a space around" (around this new future colony...). 2,9 bill. reacted with the same... Bsw. In Hydra (space in the depth "in the Northern side like") will be a colony of our specie's civilization in age... 258 millions the numbers in the age's number after Matma (from the our famous in this civ... In Terania... In city Avalon... lives a general Paton... Only...).

The big event in 2,9 bill ("over the many civilizations science") - it is the black hole in galaxy in space of Ursa Major... Their ship found this the new, invisible hole here. AND... OVER THE 130 CIVILOIZATIONS FROM THERE FLYS TO THE OUR GALAXY, AS THE TO NEW THEIR HOME... Nah... I an to add... 24273 TRILLIONS the years after Juvis... Such civilization's a new colony will be the closest to us from there... Differently, than do think in 2,9 bill (nah... does necessary 1 billion the years to fly rom there - here) - it will be more soon (ships of 24273 trill. flys 145 millions the y. in such distance... BUT... thousand their ships with the necessary engines are in the our galaxy already... This black hole was prognosed...). TOTALY - Will be 85 such age's new civilizations in the our galaxy... So much only...

You missed one, the intelligent avian humanoid with wings and four hands. Two hands work in coordination with their wings and the remaining two work in coordination with their legs. They are above humans and way advanced than us. This is the reason why all religious books depicts angels with wings, because, an intelligent species like a humanoid with wings will be more advanced than humans.

I suggest to take a look inside the Eliopolitan theogony's picture, you will find the ancient memory of an alien contact, from 6000 BC until 4100 BC it happened along the Nile river, when sahara was a green savannah Osiris was an alien-human hybrid of first generation: human DNA is dominat, we know it, because he had the classic human shapes but he was not completely human, because for sure he was green skin, it was not a normal human colour skin, and it had a very very huge skull, and his head was not normal for a human too, and he had no hair at all. Orus is Osiris's son: Orus was not human, he was another alien-human hybrid, but he was of second generation hybrid, and he was recessive! it means the alien DNA came out again on the second generation, just as Mendel's law said many many time later. Ancient people of egypt never ever meet Mendel, how did egpytians know the Mendel's law in their picture, on saying that Orus was the Osiris's son?! Seth, Thot, were genuine aliens: it's quite simple, they had a sort of beak in the mounth. Anubi was another genuine alien: he was not human but he had no beak, probably he was a warrior or a soldier. Rha was another genuine alien: he looks like Orus, and Rha had a sort of beak just like Seth, Thot. Also Heryshaf was a genine alien: he had no beak, he was very strong. Isis was the wife of Osiris, she was totally human, that's why the cult of Isis started very very late, because people knew she was human only. The alien spaceship are 3 solar ships: look at one of the odd pictures! images.app.goo.gl/kT7HExnUhrz8uk3K8 images.app.goo.gl/Eter57NeXdPgLYbN7 upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4b/SFEC_2009_SETI1-0007.JPG this boat is a boat for ceremony, it means it did not float in the water, but ancient egyptian people built just like that: so the point is simple, were they so idiots to build a not floating boat or did they build something as best they did for what they see?! yah! there are 2 UFO disks on the solar ships, it is quite strange stuffs, don't you?! Those stuffs looks like those other stuffs! www.fenomenum.com.br/ufo/governos/documentos/docprato
