Ойын-сауық

Footage Belongs Clarence "Clem" Schultz.
This tornado would touchdown at 6:29 PM CDT and lift At 7:20 PM CDT April 9 2015. This tornado would impact Fairdale at 7:12 PM that day. Clem Schultz would have his wife Geraldine "Geri" Schultz killed by the tornado as it hit Fairdale, but Clem and ais dog would fortunately survive. Clem would find a mattress to hide under as the tornado came over his house, how his dog survived Is unknown. I am sorry for Clem's loss in 2015. Clem still had SEVERE injuries from improper forms of shelter and you should never film a tornado if it seems to be closing in on your location, especially a violent one.
Asked Questions:
1. Where Is Clem's House?
Clem's house is located in the town of Fairdale.
2. What Is The Circle Thing?
The circle is the tornado, it outlines the width the tornado had at the time.
3. Why Did Clem Stay In The Attic?
Clem stayed in the attic because he thought the tornado was tracking away from him, but when he realized it was coming for him; it was already too late. He was unable to move fast because of his age.

What I find haunting is the “Time Until Impact” starts at 1 minute 55 seconds. That gives you a frightening idea of how little time you have to find shelter before a tornado hits your position.

Maybe, but it wouldn't take me even 15 seconds to get from the 3rd floor of my house to the basement, which they had. As soon as I saw it, I could have myself and my family sheltered fast enough in that full time frame to get bored waiting for it to hit. As far as pets, I wouldn't bother trying to gather them to be honest. My wife and son matter a billion times more than the greatest dog of all time would, so that would be another time advantage in my opinion.

To this day remains the scariest tornado footage I’ve seen. I appreciate you making this video as it adds a new perspective to the tragic event. Fairdale is so tiny but that tornado took a direct line through it. I’d imagine not a single home in Fairdale remained fully intact. Scary footage right here.

What's interesting is the street view image capture says august 2023, and it sure doesn't look like a violent tornado went through there. Large mature trees and old houses standing in many parts of the small town. I wonder if the tornado sideswiped the town and Mr Schultz residence was on the outskirts. Very strange.

Man, fuck anyone shaming this guy for not "doing more" for his wife. What could he have done? She was already in their basement, which is the safest place you can be in this situation. Unfortunately, it's a 50/50 bet with a tornado this size. This man surviving is a prime example of that bet. He was in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing at the wrong time, yet he was the one that survived. He has to live with that guilt every day. Let the man live in peace for the rest of his years, goddamn.

As a person absolutely unreasonably petrified of roaches, I completely understand why they didn't 'brave the spiders'. You can't tell someone with a fear who unreasonably is petrified to "just wrap up in a blanket" because the anxiety of the fear won't let you think logically. I know when I see a roach something happens in my brain and I become this crazy person screaming bloody murder and running aimlessly away while screaming. It makes absolutely no sense and those around me are shocked at the level fear on my face. At work, one person thought it would be funny to scare me with a dead roach. I was so scared that I had a cardiac event and spent 12 hours in the ER. So, while it makes no sense to you why someone would risk their life because of some "stupid spiders" ... I completely understand and trust me, people like me with irrational fears beat ourselves up over how ridiculous our fear is and why we can't control it.

Fun fact: According to the NWS, the tornado had weakened to mid-upper EF3 intensity by the time it impacted Fairdale, where the only fatalities occurred. It was almost certainly EF5 at multiple points between Rochelle and Fairdale, with the NWS assigning about a dozen damage points along its path as being consistent with exactly 200 mph winds, most of which were well constructed, bolt-anchored homes that were completely swept away along a 10 mile stretch that started just southwest of Rochelle. Just 1 more mph at any of these sites would have meant an EF5 rating. Many have noticed the outright refusal of the NWS to rate anything higher than an EF4 since their "hometown" of Moore received the last EF5 in 2013. Moore and Norman share a border, and most of the NWS employees live in Moore. Coincidence?

Nothing cool about it, the tornados rightly mentioned above all had obvious EF5 damage indicators. It's the sheer reluctance of the NWS not to rate any violent tornado EF5 that frustrates people. Tim Marshall states that the Mayfield EF4 was too slow moving to warrant an EF5 rating. Always seems to be an excuse.

It seemed very deliberate that they marked the top speed at 1 mph below the EF-5 level. They are very stingy with the EF-5 ratings since Moore for sure. That said, an EF-4 can destroy you life just as effectively as an EF-5 - I'd prefer to avoid them both!

This might be the only time a tornado victim recorded their own death, aside from whatever videos police have in evidence or have released to families who just haven't released anything yet.

Clem said he went upstairs to get some flashlights because he thought it would miss his house but that he would still likely lose power. While up there, he thought he would do some filming, but then when he realized it was coming towards him and he didn’t have enough time to get back downstairs (he’s an older man), he decided to just stay there.

Not trying to be insensitive, but if you see a tornado coming straight towards you…why not get in your vehicle and drive a mile down the road? I’d rather have at least a little control over the situation instead of hunkering down and hope it misses me.

In almost every case trying to escape a tornado in a vehicle is the worst thing to do. Vehicles offer zero protection from flying debris and can even be picked up and thrown themselves. Tornados can also change in size, speed, or direction with no warning. Not to mention that tornadoes are often accompanied by large hail which will pound the shit out of your car. I say almost every case because there was a family in Jarell, Texas that escaped an F5 tornado in their car. But that tornado was unusually slow moving-it was only going about 2 mph as it grinded a neighborhood of well-built homes and their residents into dust. But that's the exception, not the rule. In most cases it's best to take cover in an interior room of a sturdy building, a storm shelter, or underground.

If I recall, it was located at the center top of town. I've looked up the address and compared it to Google Earth, and it's an empty lot now since no one rebuilt in the area! In fact, you can look around Fairdale and still see the impact from the tornado!
