I thought I was the only one! Something about his talent, his passion for the music and his youthful energy, appears to render his early death unfair. I absolutely loved him...and never met him.

Clark Terry lived to be 99 years old... he had a great story about Miles Davis. Look it up! As a former Trumpet Player- Miles, Clark, Dizzy, Freddit, Auturo, Maynard, Sean Jones, Roy Hargrove in the order

I had the privilege of seeing Clark Terry live, in the mid 90s. My father and myself both sat right by the stage, and we were captivated for nearly 2 hours by Clark’s playing. We still talk about it now.

I heard Mr. Terry perform live in Denver in the mid '80s. During "Mumbles", the only English he muttered was, "Judge Bork"! 😂 Apparently that means it was approximately 1987 when I saw him! He was such an incredible player. I saw Mr. Hargrove in ~1997 in Denver, too. The world is worse for our loss of those geniuses.

Was able to hear him in London in concert at an old church building. Had just arrived from Belgium and I had been invited to play at a jam session for Toots Thielman who had just passed away. Then in Monterey he played and we played at a jam session together one night and I happened to see him the next morning waiting for his ride. We exchanged some info and I told him I would pray for his health issues.

I believe that the lower register of most horns is most beautiful. Roy just showed us how beautiful that low register of the trumpet/flugel horn can. It's a shame that he is gone.

Love Clark Terrys expression after Roy's solo. A great rendition of Satchmo's tune. I am sure "Pops" would have approved !!

Wow, it is truly hard to embrace that Roy has passed from this realm proceeding those of us who are left to listen to the timeless expressions of his soul through the medium of music transported and formed into Black Classic Music. On that stage were some of the bost brilliant minds who have not only mastered the science of music theory, but were true initiates of the art form of Black Classic Music. Listen to these men play one is easily drawn into the hearts and minds of the musicians and they harmonically and melodically paint an internal image of the wonderful world that exist in the souls of these musician. I pray that peace, blessing, and mercy will be with those men in their next lives, and I thank them for leaving a legacy for those remaining to enjoy.
