The people who disliked this don't appreciate the world and don't live in a wonderful world.
Armstrong didn't die, god needed him as a vocalist for his band

The saxophonist probably doesn't realize that the intro phrase is already childish. Important notes are a half step off. There are too many such parts in this performance. That's what makes Satchmo's regacy a blasphemy. That's why Pat Metheny told him no.

@@hiroono1 The saxophonist was Kenny G. I thought he did a wonderful job with this tune! It is very difficult to reproduce a piece of music (with permission, of course), add to it, and get it right. Learning a tune like this, and playing it by ear on the piano, is a different thing, and ALMOST impossible, but I did it, after not seriously playing piano, since I was 10. The reason it's almost impossible, is that when you're listening to music on the stereo, when you hear it the notes change pitch ever so slightly, because of the shape of the ear drum. To try and mimic on the keyboard what you're hearing, you have to go up half an octave, before it "sounds right." The minute you do that, you end up having to play sharps and flats. My Father used to call this, "Playing in the cracks." There's that extra note in between each key, that nobody can seem to find . . . !

@@deirdrejohnson3468 You seem unable to hear chromatic intervals. The notes Kenny G plays do not contain important intervals. You do not have the ability to understand them.

Beautiful song with such nice pics!

Whomever wrote this song is a gift from God to humanity
Well, I would play along to this song too. Who wouldn't? It's a lovely track. I often play like that at home, when I feel like playing some good stuff. Kenny G sold his recorded play-along - good for him. No one forced anyone to buy it. Kenny G is an OK musician and an OK artist.
"What God Wonderful" 🙏🏼
Oooooh beautiful thank you 🌹❤
My family used this song as the music set to my mom's video memorial when she died back in 2008. Still chokes me up when I hear it today. Love ya mom.
I love this song but Louis Armstrong and Kenny G are worlds apart. One was a great jazz musician.........
My grandmother grew up listening to Louis Armstrong and loved and respected him very much. I played this to her and she said how she loved how Kenny G added to this song not that it needed anything
Kennnny G How Awesome and of course Louis Armstrong always Sings Beautiful But that SAX .... Amazing!!!!!!
To me this is such a romantic song, especially with Kenny G. I’m in love with saxual music lol
It is a Wonderful World with SOMEONE As SPECIAL as YOU and that Wonderful SAX Music! You are the BEST!
I Absolutely Love This Song!
uma das melhores musicas de sempre! boas recordaçoes antigas..
A interpretação de Louis Armstrong é inbatível.Perfeita.
I remember this when I was a kid
I saw Kenny G do this song live with Louis on a screen beside him. Awesome!
He sounds like some high school kid who's mother and grandma are listen to him. "you are good dear. you going to be professional on day"
Best version ever.
I was stuffing my face at a Chinese buffet the first time I heard this playing on the Muzak system. As a Trumpet player and fan of Louis Armstrong, I nearly tossed my Kung Pow chicken.

Chinese love Kenny G. One sung is sung in Chinese with Kenny G playing. I think it was something with "moonlight". It's a song with a simple melody.
my jaw is dropped...not because it's good, because I'm horrified. a early 90s esque drum beat to Louis Armstrong?? no...why....why....
The people who aren't affronted by this have painted on smiles, hollow stares, and occasional violent twitching.

Kenny G isnt a Jazz Artist.
great louis, great voice. great job too, kenny g..
I don't see anything wrong with it and I love the original by Louis Armstrong
To all the haters: I don't follow jazz. I don't have the experience that might dictate being angry over how Kenny G covers this song. I just know that I've been playing the saxophone (alto) long enough to respect the clarity and smoothness of the tone. On top of that, I simply think that it sounds very nice. Unfortunately, Mr. Armstrong isn't here to settle the matter, but I hope that he would think better of this than you all supposedly do in memory of him. What a wonderful world, indeed.

Logician Writer That's probably why so many jazz-huggers hate him: he lets jazz haters to listen to his jazz! And then calling it "the mutilation of jazz and music by Kenny G". No wonder the genre is dying and can't widen its followers.
AMAZING! 🥰

You can't? How about putting the original Satchmo song in the Good Morning Vietnam movie without Armstrong's permission? Over a million Vietnamese died and maybe 50,000 Americans died with thousands still suffering the effects today. Was it a wonderful war? I think including the song in the movie ridicules Mister Armstrong because it makes him seem like a simpleton

This recording removed any reasonable doubt that Kenny G's career was about cashing in for ego and $ rather than respect for the music.

really very amazing and pleasant song.....
Amazing.
Music, like art, is best when it causes a ripple in the fabric of things. Love it or hate it, it made you feel something. Whether you hate it or love it, you took the time to listen (hopefully), and decide for yourself what you like or dont like about it. So thumbs up to Kenny.
I don't get the hate, if you don't like the version it's alright. Don't stay on the video just let the good vibes be and appreciate the wonderful world

I just found this. (2024?) This was one of the tunes that brought me back to the piano, after not touching one, since I was 12. I'd put this on the stereo, and ATTEMPT to try and play it, but I found I was using a lot of the black keys! I persevered until I got it "right," (in my mind), and then my Father--who was an accomplished musician himself--came home from work one evening, heard the piano (and the stereo), stood behind me until I was done playing. It took a second or two, and then he said: "That, is the most difficult piece to learn how to play!" ("Sentimental Journey," is another one that's difficult to copy from stereo to piano). "How long have you been doing that?!!!" I said: "A week." No sheet music--just playing by ear. After that, my Father dug out all of the sheet music he'd put away, thinking he'd never play it again. (40's music). I was "challenged" daily, after that . . .
Прекрасная музыка и ролик! Спасибо!

HOW COULD YOU DISLIKE THIS SONG? he is such a legend, especially for me because I play the saxophone and so did Louis Armstrong! He is amazing and will be remembered for generations!! Kenny g is awesome too on his sax!!! like me!!! :D
¿Quién aún escucha esta joya musical en 2020?
I think all of the negative comments are pretty sad. I think Kenny G put a beautiful interpretation on this classic. I emphasize "interpretation." It was NOT meant to upstage or replace the original. Just an interpretation. Beautifully executed.

His G'ness abominates the Louis Armstrong chesnutt. Mankind somehow survives
As Pat Metheny said: "But when Kenny G decided that it was appropriate for him to defile the music of the man who is probably the greatest jazz musician that has ever lived by spewing his lame-ass, jive, pseudo bluesy, out-of-tune, noodling, wimped out, fucked up playing all over one of the great Louis's tracks (even one of his lesser ones), he did something that I would not have imagined possible. He, in one move, through his unbelievably pretentious and calloused musical decision to embark on this most cynical of musical paths, shit all over the graves of all the musicians past and present who have risked their lives by going out there on the road for years and years developing their own music inspired by the standards of grace that Louis Armstrong brought to every single note he played over an amazing lifetime as a musician. By disrespecting Louis, his legacy and by default, everyone who has ever tried to do something positive with improvised music and what it can be, Kenny G has created a new low point in modern culture - something that we all should be totally embarrassed about - and afraid of."
