I just got my first Marimo . I watched some of your videos before I got it . I was surprised at how spongy it felt. I did gently cleanse it with dechlorinated water before placing in my Betta bowl . Well my Betta rests on it now.

I’ve since upgraded from a bowl but that betta lived for 4 years ..

I bought a marimo ball from my local petstore and I cut it up (don't know why lol) and there was a shrimp inside it

i am missing the how to adopt free marimo at the site above. how do i get one? me and my daughter have 4 betta tanks. other tanks:4 that are 10 gallon and under. a 55 gallon and another 55 we hadnt started yet. i have never had these. if its just algea, isnt that what you usually want to keep out of tanks? or is this a slow growing one that doesnt attach to everything going crazy? can this be unfolded and used to wrap around bridges or something?

Wendi, I split one and dark green "ooze" came out. Was it rotting a bit inside? It all washed up clean. BUT the two halves won't roll and stay together. When I drop them into the water, they turn into floating "half-balls).

Hello Wendi! Thanks for your videos, they've been very helpful! I bought a Marimo From the pet store yesterday, and he was in an aquarium with other fish, I saw about three white specks on him, and couldn't tell if they were sand or eggs. Anyway, since he was in with fish I was wondering how I can kind of "sterilize" him? I've read some people saying you can use aquarium salt in small amounts added to the water, and other people say table salt is fine? Thank you for sharing all this info with everyone! (PS I am planning to also buy from you in the future, just wanted to try it out)

I found some moss balls in the beach the other day so i took some, washed them and put it with my marimo moss ball BUT i dont know of its the same thing as my marimo and if its healthy should i get rid of them?

hi i love your vids i did help alone a ball that was actually deviding by itself for some reason and its a real one also the inside is a nice pretty green so i kinda left it ot form on its own in two halves!! i do have a few questions though, is there a max temp you can keep them at?i did give him a lil squeeze (very gently) and he actually started to devide on his own is that normal? mine is in a tropical fish tank (live berers) and has only floated a bit here n there. btw hes actually my husbands plant because he couldnt get an algea eater due to agression in adults issues and a small tank.

Hiya, I have a new marimo from a actual buisness. Although it is a little spongey, but when it is in the tank it will leave a trail or bubbles behind and it will sink. This is after it's been squeezed, I hope that you can help. ☺👍

is it okay to squeeze your Marimo? I was told at the pet store where I got them that to clean them off you can just give them a firm squeeze over the sink and then put them back in water would this hurt my plant? also how can I make sure they are still alive and growing?

my dark green marimos are just now put into more light. how long on average will it take for it too become light green?

I used to have 3 of them and I put them in with my fish and crabs and shrimp and somebody ate them, which I'm thinking it was the crabs lol bad crabs. I don't have any fish tank set up anymore, but I always love those green balls which I didn't even know what they were called. I didn't know they needed all this care and that they can just be put in a vase by them self. I might try it again. I know this video is a year old so I was wondering if you have anymore imperfect ones, because I would love to get one? Thanks for the video

Dear Wendi i have a question from an aquantience who also has a marimo of her own, she has been a little concerned because last week when she went to check on her marimo and it had white stuff growing on it at first she tought it was mold but when she carefully took it of and put it on her table it's consitancy was hard like realy small rocks, do you or anyone reading this might know what it is and if she should be concerned? -thanks for helping if anyone does Julie

So all really that a Marimo is the ultimate in pets to have since it is a living organism :-3 Water changes are not super needed and water filters are not really needed yet is recommended

Hello, I just bought some marimo from a seller on Amazon. Im trying to figure out if they are real since they do not look quite like the pictures. They appear to have a black thread running through them. This is making me think they may be fake.. What are your thoughts?

I hope the ones I got from petco are real!!! They don't "feel" real, it feels like synthetic fibers, but I've never really touched a marimo ball before so idk. Gonna try and cut it up to see if it looks like the ones in the video!

Stores such as Petco sell Marimos for Beta Fish, it is possible to grow one by your own without a Beta Fish

What I was thinking was to take one and break it up onto domed pieces, tie those pieces to the "branches" on a driftwood tree, and create an underwater bonsai for my tank. Do you think the will adhere themselves to the branches and grow?

You seem to have small plants that produce a lot of fruit are they all dwarf species or is there a way you maintain them to keep them small and fruitfull

tingsgwan Certain plants I grow are dwarf variety, but not all. I have to be careful when selecting trees or large plants to plant due to limited space. Got to work with what you got, you know? :)

Arlo Senense Hi Arlo! It won't die. Eventually you'll get two Marimos balls! Just be patient because they are very slow growing.
