Man that was such a measured race, the last 20 metres, red shirt emptied his tank and I feel you kept some back. I would say that it from being ‘race rusty’. Red shirt looked a proper scrapper, you looked amazing all the way through, you were carved up by the eventual winner, he ‘wanted’ it more. Also, the ginger fella, smooth like chocolate and was prepared to do his own thing. You’ll get there Besty, will improve after each race, don’t be afraid to lose that great form in the dying moments to grab that win. Love your channel, looking forward to more of the same! 😊

Awesome work as always Nick. A quick question if you don't mind. When training to run a particular pace in a race, say 5min/km for a marathon, is it best to do your speed workouts at that goal pace, or at a fast pace, say 4:40/km, with the idea that if you train at a pace faster than your actual goal pace then it will be easier to run at that goal pace in the race? Or is it best to stick to training at your actual goal pace?

Bester, to be fair - that guy who beat you used your body to draft the whole race and he also carries a lot less muscle mass than you. But let me note that he also had better kick form. He really drove his arms and had exaggerated upper body movement, which really activates the posterior chain and allows for strong powerfull strides.

Shoe choice was a correct one. The only real thing I may of done different is maybe the first 30 seconds of the race see if any of the other competitors took the initiative and lead. Then could of took a look who your competition was and got a break from the head wind. But I'm by no way anywhere near a runner you are so what do I know. 😂
