So Ninja Theory did a whole 25 part dev diary on Hellblade 1 that's up on their youtube channel, and they've started doing some dev diaries on Hellblade 2 that has some explanation of what the story of Hellblade 2 is going to be.

Now imagine that some people played this just like an action/fight game and complained it was too linear, with boring puzzles and mediocre fighting system. It's like ordering the best meal in a great restaurant and be interested only in plates and cutlery on the table. Like I said (wrote) before - It is something else.

"Was that real?" is a key, and ultimately also irrelevant, question for the whole game. It could all be real. It could all be in her head. In the end, it's the journey to acceptance - not only of Dillion's death, but also acceptance of herself... the bad and, in some ways harder, the good.. and it's the same wherever it plays out.

The love for Dillion made her do all this crusade .

The voice acting in this game is sensational. And of course, it's not just the actors. It starts with the writing, and it's brilliant, right from the start, with the voices. What a game.

And... I'm weeping again. This never fails to bring back some of the feelings when I lost my late wife. This story is so moving.

@@ChrisTheNjord Appreciate, but while it's a hard memory sometimes I was fortunate to be married to her, she's no longer in pain or suffering (lupus and rheumatoid arthritis can seriously wreck you and cause other conditions), and I've found love again years after. Overall I'm fortunate and I hope I was good fortune for her too.

Seriously, it's wild how much they invested themselves into the mental health research and creating the visuals! Ohhhh yeah, the next game looks like it's gonna be cool already!

It's a good job that everyone's awake now. I damn near screamed "HELLBLADE!" when I saw you'd dropped the finale! Can't wait to see it.

Thoughts on the featurette? Someone needs to explain to me why, when there are games like this, we allow triple-A games to get away with the half-assed bullshit they often produce.

Thank you for writing what I'm thinking for a long time :) There are so many low budget Indie games which are way better than most AAA games. Games like Hellblade or SOMA have heart and soul, you can really feel the passion from the developers.

@@wickeddummy I used to ask "who do triple-A companies produce such crap compared to this" but that's not the question. They do it because they get away with it and it's profitable. The question is, why do we let them get away with it? I'm at that point now where most triple-A companies need to convince me to buy their games, even where I've been buying them for a while now. As an example, I played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim but after how buggy things were on release and their shenanigans elsewhere, I'll need to be convinced to by ES6. Likewise I played Fifa for years (career mode and latterly story mode, not FUT) and Sims, but after Sims 4 and the crap to do with Fifa, I'm out completely.
