I'm trapped in a marriage with a 78-year-old man who has insulin resistance driven cognitive decline, worsening ADHD and Marcott Tooth Disease (CMT) as well as substantial mobility issues. I recognized that the CMT is a heritary condition and he cannot help it. However ADHD can be improved with hard work and management. I've read the books, done the research and I've been in therapy for a year and asked him to get treatment for his ADHD. He refuses to get any treatment and or to talk to me about our problems. I've tried everything. He's wants to be totally taken care of by me, he can no longer drive and he has basically given up trying. As senior on a fixed income, I cannot divorce him or we living in a state where all assets much be divided equally, would both be on the street. So I feel totally trapped.

Can you ask him to see if the state will pay for assisted living because he is asking too much of you to do EVERYTHING or ask to live with relatives or will they convert their 4 car garage to allow you to live near and with family??? 4 car garage is hyperbole

Everyday instead of dreading life and your self imposed torture get happy and put a smile on your face. Find what brings you joy. Remove your focus from the victimhood mindset. Find positive outlets and expect the best. Give thanks upon awakening every morning 🌄 and every night you lay your head to rest. Picture in your mind's eyes what you desire your husband to do to get help. It can be very hard. My oldest brother is 61 he moved in with me 5 months ago. He suffers from a mental irregularity it has been a challenge but inspire of it I had a record month of Sales last month and I work from Home. Sometimes he is just plain nuts. I foot the bill we haven't gotten him his benefits as of yet. Put your mind on what's lovely and good.

he said 'i never saw anyone get away with it not even once" how true i had the lot everything you could wish for but lived hedonistically it all caught up with me i now live in poverty

Jordan creates a problem then like a miracle has the answer.

After a lifetime (73 yrs. old) of trying to understand how to just "be" I have discovered that the effort to understand is the obstacle to just being. For me, and me only, I have come to the conclusion that there is no overall meaning to life nor is there anything of purpose to achieve. Human Beings have developed in such a manner that we are now seperate from the source of what is meaningful. There is nothing to be done about it now.

this is sad to read. life is full of meaning and joy, not that i do not have my own destructive ways and always actively seek the beauty of life, but it is definitely there. but life can only be unlocked when we acknowledge an intelligent and purposeful creator of all we know. otherwise, it is as you say, life is ultimately meaningless and matters not, which Man knows in his heart of hearts, is false. praying for the miracle of life to be revealed to you Kevin, in good time.

@opherYong; No need to pray for me Christopher. I'm a very contented person. I say contented because for me, the pursuit of "happiness" manifests itself in a constant chase. I live what YOU might call a christian life, although I have no belief in any "purposeful creator". The question that I think needs further examination is "can we be good without God"? My personal experience tells me a resounding yes! But my macro observation suggests a resounding "I'm not sure". If you truly believe in prayer, save it for those who suffer and die from natural disasters. Human beings CHOOSE war so you can attribute that to "free will" but innocent children, in fact all people, suffer and die from Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Earthquakes etc.....What "purposeful creator" would allow such random acts to take the life of those who he/she/it created? What kind of amusement is that. No, not for me. I'll just leave the mystery of life alone. Thanks for taking the time to write a thoughtful response. I really do appreciate it.

We stop searching for meaning when we find out who we are what we are and how the Game of Life Works. Then the lights cut on and we realize we're not victims and visitors in our own Life. I had questions at 23 I got answers that was some 34 years ago now. These greats have helped many ways with their scholarly Esoteric Knowledge Dr.Joseph Murphy Jim Rohn, Neville Goddard Earle Nightingale Catherine Ponder Manly P.Hall, Zig Ziglar Florence Scovil Shinn. Napoleon Hill, among others I've studied, along with My Mother and Father were my teachers.

Love is the point, but it cannot be coerced and cannot be associated with merely "should" or "ought". It's a heart posture, and can only be arrived at by first encountering love, and being changed by that love.
