Charles, I used to hear from guitar snobs that any half-decent guitarist can play both the guitar and bass parts, while bassists can only play their own part. You, sir, have flipped that attitude on its head and then some. Not only are you so proficient at playing bass that few others are at your level, but you blow most guitarists out of the water as well. Thank you for the inspiration! My first bass arrives via post in a few days!

When my old guitarist said something similar, I told him that was something only bad guitar players, that need to put other instrumentalists down to feel better, say. He actually never repeated it. And it is something that is generally true in my experience. Really good guitar players have a mutual respect for good bass players because all good musicians love honest and great music, no matter the instrument.

Hey, your bass has far too many strings. What's next? A fretted piano around yer neck? Just saying. Why don't you introduce 3 string bass? Or a 2 string? Or even a no string bass? Did you never mention that cello solo's sound best on a violin? And a trombone solo is better when you take your trompet? It often is true. So why the hell wouldn't you put some guitar strings on your solo bass? Nobody ever plays solo really low. Simply cut away those low strings, if you never use them anymore. What? This high pitch hell has passed?

I’m grateful that you played bass on my friend’s track in 2020, and I’m hopeful that 2021 will be much like this track: calm, peaceful and relaxing, and most importantly without the losses that a lot of us suffered last year

I hope you are right, and I will definitely be playing bass in 2021. If not live, at least with my band in rehearsals. Our time together is precious, and we love every minute of it.
