Whale watching trip off Gairloch, Scotland with rare sighting of Orca (Killer Whale)

Hebridean Whale Cruises operate this high speed RIB out of Gairloch in the north west Highlands of Scotland and goes out into The Minch. We did this trip on an August evening in 2016 when the sea is usually calmer. It was only the second time that year where an Orca had been spotted.

Is there the right time to go up to Scotland to whale watch?

I think the summer time is the best time, between May and September. We went in August and had a calm sea during the evening. Trips may be cancelled if it's too windy. We were very lucky to see a killer whale though as that was only the second one they'd seen that year!

We did this trip out of Gairloch in the North West Highlands of Scotland. I think anywhere off the west coast of Scotland and the islands would have the best chance of spotting whales around the UK. The top spots in Scotland are Gairloch, The Minch (between the Outer Hebrides and the mainland), Isle of Mull, Orkney, Shetland and Morey Firth. I think there are also some trips from Cumbria in England.
