    Babzilla. No dividend for the 3:00 and 9:00 position, so no need for AxB. in these instances, correct? For 12:00 tailwind and 6:00 headwind where the angle divisor is 1, the divisor for step C) is always 225 and 180 respectively, correct?

  • @Babzilla33

    @Babzilla33

    Жыл бұрын

    That is correct. On the headwind tailwind. For 3:00 and 9:00, it’s going to be 180 or 225 /.01. Which means it’ll either be 18,000 or 22,500. So example: 150 yard shot with 10 mph wind that is a slight cross tailwind would look like this: A) 150x10=1500 B) 225/.01=22,500 C) 1500/22500=.06 150-.06= 149. Obviously it depends on the hole and where the trouble is whether you want to add or subtract yardage to the end total to stay below the hole.

    Bonjour et merci pour toutes ces méthode de calcul, ça m' a changer la vie, surtout depuis aujourd'hui, je jouais avec le calculateur pour le décalage au drapeau et j'ai mis en plus sur excel ce calculateur de distance en faisant les conversions de mètres en yards pour que les valeurs de calculs soient juste ( je joue en mètres) et c'es un régale (je ne peux pas le montrer, car pas de PJ possible). mon écran de PC s'est transformé en sapin de Noël à chaque coup il clignote 🤣. J'ai retrouvée le gout de jouer grâce à vous. La seule chose que je n'ai pas réussi c'est le mappage des distances avec le calcul en fonction des coefs de balles, j'ai essayé avec votre tableur mais ne correspond pas à mon mappage sur Kiawa et qui m'a coûté une fortune🙃. Very glad to hear things are working out for you. Most often with the club mapping at Kiawah, where the ball lands is often downhill compared to the Teebox. Therefore your ball is going farther than it normally would, and which case your power percentage in the game would be lower. I have mapped my clubs at Bethpage number 10 which is completely flat. Best of luck to you!

    Yes the concept is the same. However you may want to experiment with different divisors for heavy winds. The general consensus for a lot of guys is 200 for tailwinds and 150 for headwinds.

    I guess the real key to this is to chart your clubs, as well as charting with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full backspin, charting the different rough lies with aforementioned backspins, and then all over again for punch shots. Oh, and then there is apparel. Am I overthinking this? Sure do miss my access to Excel. I currently use the simplified but cumbersome Numbers program that came with my iPad. I do use WalkofLife’s Excel punch shot chart on my iPad, but not sure how or what program he used to share. Thanks for yet another excellent tutorial! 🙏

    Great explainer, thank you. If you're taking further requests, I really need to tighten up my approach shots (esp. with mid-to-long irons). One thing that often messes me up is : How much distance does full backspin take off a club? I realize that some of the answer is club & ball specific, but is there a method to figuring this out? (Especially when you have to add wind effects). Thanks in advance!

  • @Babzilla33

    @Babzilla33

    An estimated ballpark that you can use, is to take your spin rating of your ball and calculate it with the standard yardage number. So example for me, my ball is 5.2 spin. 1) 5.2/100=.052 2) 3i is rated at 225. So 225*.052=11.7 3) Subtract this number from your rated club: 225-11.7= 213.3 Obviously this is just a ball park, and you will have to add 3-5 yards to the tee shot numbers since they fly farther.

    Жыл бұрын

    My 3i from the fairway is charted at 215 which is close to the quick conversion I provided. Of course charting is the way to go, but not always affordable by some. Another route would be to ask those in their CC for numbers if they have matching set/ball. It will eventually come down to deciding what are the weak points and make them strong points.

    Roughly with a straight headwind or tailwind what is distance lost or gained? So with a straight 10 mph headwind how much distance would that add? And with a 10 mph headwind, how much distance would you lose. Thanks

  • @Babzilla33

    @Babzilla33

    8 ай бұрын

    Often times it’s not linear. So if I had a 100 yard shot, headwind would leave me 105.5 yards and tailwind would be 95.5 yards. But if I bump it up to a 200 yard shot, then headwind becomes 211y and tailwind becomes 191y. The farther you are from the hole, the more effect the wind will have especially if you use high spinning balls like Titleist 87. This is why mapping is a good idea to have a foundation for each club.

    The 127.5 is my charted number that I attained for my 9 iron. This was done by going to Bethpage #10 in practice mode (no apparel) and hitting full back spin shots repeatedly while writing down how far the ball traveled at 100% power then get an average. But you need a crosswind to do this, not a head or tailwind. Did that for each club so I know what they can do a full power. Hope this helps!

    Here to help my man. 1 would be 12:00 and 6:00. .01 would be 3:00 and 9:00. And last u said my 9iron is 127.5 shows 135 so how’d you figure out that a full 9iron is 127.5 with a 100% backspin? Is there a calculation for that?

  • @Babzilla33

    @Babzilla33

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Zach! So yes I got the 125 yardage from doing the first 2 steps. The elevation says 3ft so I just added 1y for that 3ft of elevation which is step 3-4. When I say my 9i goes 127.5y, this numbers comes from actually going to a course (Kiawah 1 or Bethpage 10) and hitting full spin shots repeatedly to get an average distance of those shots. Similar to a driving range. Sure the game “shows” 135 on the screen but the yardage number you see on the screen doesn’t translate to the yardage in the game for different reasons: such as high level irons and balls have different distance and spin ratings. Depending on your club and ball combo, there may be people out there that have charted the numbers for them so you could get them without having to map. If not, this is a video I made about club mapping:kzread.info/dash/bejne/ooGBlKOsdbSfY6w.html

The numbers I plug in which seem to be accurate, put me about 20 ft away from the hole. My numbers tell me to give 80% power. However it's 85% that puts me at the hole. The elevation seems to be the issue. If I eliminate that, everything works out. I have a pic of the situation on my screen but I don't know how to add it here. All I can do is show the equation. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has run into this problem here. Thank you! ((10×90)÷(180÷0.1)−(24 ÷3.75))

    You aren’t crazy Ryan lol it is one of those nuances about the game that most eventually notice. The problem is that the game doesn’t recognize and compute the shot in a linear fashion as you would expect. As such, once you start dropping below 90% on the SW off the tee, the power and yardage won’t match. Sometimes adding 25% topspin will help. Same goes for the wedges from the fairway. If you start hitting wedges in the 80-85% range they will actually come up short 1-3 yards generally due to game design 👍🏻

    When you put it into an excel sheet, it takes 5-10s to hit a shot. I generally play 9 holes in less than 7-8 minutes which is quite fast. 👍🏻

    How does your ball always drop like a stone? You never have any roll. Your balls never roll off the green.

  • @Babzilla33

    Many factors come into play. For starters, I use the 97 irons and the 87 Titleist which have very high spin ratings. Combine that with a headwind and the ball won’t roll out. However if you have a very strong tailwind, 13/14 greens, extreme uphill, and back sloping green or any combination of these and it won’t stop (example BPB #4) A lot of the lower tier/cost balls/clubs don’t have high spin ratings so they will release more. Which isn’t always a bad thing, just takes a different style and approach to shot making.

    thanks for reply. I am just having a hard time seeing how people are getting 50s on 18 holes. In tournaments, I have had holes where I put the ball right on the hole, a cup off, and it rolls off. End up with it rolling off over and over. Very frustrating. I have gotten better but I have been playing wgt for quite sometime. 9 years, longer. Thanks again.

    Depends on what each player wants to experience from the game. If it’s just to play around then this is probably irrelevant. If someone wants to play better for the purposes of winning tournaments/RGs/brackets/showdowns which lead to more credits then this is a starting point to build on. To each their own and happy swinging 👍🏻. Cheers!
