This aired on local Chicago TV on Sunday, December 30th 1984.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to digital, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help!

Every damn time I hear this theme song it makes me feel like I am still that 6-year-old kid on Sunday Night. Frazier Thomas was a big part of my childhood.

Good times on Sunday afternoon. This program was my introduction to movies. I lived in La Grange and Hinsdale in the 1970s, 80s.

💜 Well, that's not my Bozo (Bob Bell), but that's my Cookie 🤗 I love hearing the Family Classics intro with Frazier (Garfield Goose) Thomas 😥 makes me a little teary-eyed.

Fun fact: Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves (the famous story the film gets its title from) wasn't originally part of One Thousand and One Nights. It (along with the story of Aladdin) was a later addition included in Antoine Galland's French translation of the tales who himself heard it from a local Syrian storyteller named Hanna Diyab.

after F.T. passed away, Roy Leonard took over as host. Sadly, it eventually ended. Shouldn't have been that way. That classic had more value than 99% of most of what is still on tv today! Even if WGN were to broadcast old reruns of it, it's better than most current television!

1:16 is the start of the film, but it doesn’t have the Universal “Glass Globe” logo. The DVD and Blu-Ray releases doesn’t have the “Glass Globe” at all, it just starts with the 1997 Universal logo with URL and the start of film. The movie is on DVD and Blu-Ray, and it’s not available on Peacock.

Lame 50 years ago. Still lame. Those are phone books, by the way. At the broadcast museum I reached over and opened one of the books. All phone books.
