Vickers wanted the mission to go south, though not to be an epic fail with everyone dead. She was also responsible for picking the team, as in making sure everybody was the best available for the job, but at the same time unprofessional in specific areas, like unsocial, taking unnessessary risks, aggressive, problems with authority, stuff like that. Not the best of the best of THE BEST. All that to sabotage the maybe best outcome of the mission, just to let the big boss, her father, fail. This detail was in the script, but cut out reworked, probably never shot, I don't remember what exactly happend. But it's this 1 thing that was missing in the movie that was realy important to explain why people behaved the way they did. Though it's not in the movie, to me it's still canon, I'll make an exception, this kinda saves the movie, and I do like "Prometheus". The sequel, on the other hand, is steaming-hot dogshit, story & characters are awfull, nothing can save this production. But I do understand there was A LOT of studio-interference, so it's not Scott's fault alone.

I liked Covenant as a film in its own right but not as a part of the Alien universe; Shaw’s treatment is awful and the implications concerning xenomorph origin simply don’t work in the wider universe.

Agreed on the first movie, they should've left that important detail in, since a lot of the criticism was heaped on the irrational and unprofessional behavior of the scientists. If looked at with the missing part in mind, it suddenly does make sense. The second move INDEED was a big pile of 🔥🔥🔥 💩💩💩. Not to mention their mistreatment of the Xenomorph origins. As long as current Disney has it's claws in that franchise, there will be no good movie. Sad but true, since Disney seems to prioritize "other" things over good writing and talent.

@@koppsr To be fair, David did NOT create the xenomorphs we know from the other movies, he only experimented with real xenonorph-material he found, several eggs, facehuggers & 1 full grown xenomorph, if I remember right. So he recreated some creatures, yes, but he didn't create this species. Some of that is kinda explained in the book/audiobook, and probably in that David-Diary. The movie though makes this not very clear, Mystery-Box shit. I'm pretty sure the xenos were only included at the end of the production, to make it more ALIEN-ish, and lots of story/worldbuilding was cut, so the changes would make sense. Which they didn't. The characters are just the worst, wtf were they smoking. Especialy that one security-guy, sniffing on fungus or whatever, let's see what happens. I wonder how the original script was structured, with those characters & story...

I think the engineers found the alien xx121 and used the harvested face huggers to create the black goo

AT, what do you think of the idea that the xenomorph can inherit the memories of it's host? Watching Ripley's escape in Alien, it struck me that the Xeno anticipated events in a way that required knowledge that it could most likely only get from Kane's memories. It blocked Ripley's escape into the shuttle without pursuing her, likely to get her to return and turn of the self-destruct. When she failed to do so, it went into the shuttle and awaited Ripley's arrival in order to escape with her. And it would also explain how it seemed to know it's way around the Nostromo so well...

1NOV2023, 16:17 Central Time, 21:17 GMT You know, I just had a thought about these Weyland-Yutani Notes, following thus -- At the end of each publication to this channel, you could add a segment from Morse, last survivor of Fury 161, or someone allied with him that would attempt to decrypt the redacted information of each relevant segment, or adding material previously not included in the Weyland-Yutani release. For instance, a section could be added, entitled "deleted scenes" for obfuscation of Weyland-Yutani cryptotechnicians and detailing further conversation between David 8 and the lone surviving Engineer.

I've always wanted to see an Alien universe animated series! Maybe set in the 57 years between the Nostromo events and Hadley's hope. I like the animated format, because you can be a bit more experimental and show things that are hard to express in regular film or series. Themes that you could explore here would be; the company and how it works, who sent the Nostromo to the derelict, Ripley's drift through the core systems, (and did Ash have something to do with it?) the Engineer's and the derelict craft as flashbacks, (in Giger's original form hopefully) how the derelict signal was discovered, Hadley's hope events and more...If done well I really think it could be exciting! (think Clone Wars but with a different style suited to the Alien universe)

To alien theory: Will you please do a deeper dive video on whether the alien universe and the predator universe should stay separate or have been brought together like it already has. My opinion is that they should stay separate and the content/mythology within seems to be stronger when it is self contained, but this is just my own opinion. The narratives within the universes are different. They have combined Freddy and Jason together, Godzilla and Kong, Batman Superman etc. with varying results. This idea started with the dark horse comics and predator 2. Would be an interesting video discussing the separate themes and the intermingling of them. Your thoughts. I believe there is a missing piece that explains some of the seemingly odd circumstances. Remember how a big plot point is how humans made robots that look like humans? The engineer, imo, wasn't in stasis for millennium. It was a robot built in the likeness of the engineers. Probably the same with the jockey. Prometheus was supposed to be the start of the reveal that Alien Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence are one and the same.

The hate for this film is insane.. it was beautifully shot, the acting was great and yeah, I wish the original script/screenplay was used, but even still.. it was so good to me.

"It's what I choose to believe". Dumb line. Doxastic voluntarism isn't possible. You're either convinced of a proposition or you aren't. If you're not sure that still means you're unconvinced.
