    Theory about William: William has been missing for a lot of time form the Delos meetings because he is dead and they have been trying unsuccessfully to transfer his mind into a host. However we know that a persons mind can't handle being into a host and they go insane. So they put host William into the park to solve his own maze. I think he has to face who he really is in order not to go insane, to get pass the memory of his wife's suicide, the one moment in his life that defines him. Just la Delos was defined by his last meeting with Logan, William is defined by the moment his wife killed herself. That is why he has an AI taking his place at the meetings, that is why Ford told him he has to play a final game when the met at the bar at the end of season 1, that is why his daughter was a host and she interviews him for fidelity ... And from the teaser trailer it seems he gets passed that moment and sets of with a new life goal ... to save the world ..

    Rehoboam in the Hebrew Bible was the son of King Solomon who succeeded. Through ill-advise of his young council, he made decisions that led to a rebellion that split the nation of Israel into a Northern and Southern Kingdom. Maybe Rehoboam in the show will lead to a set of decisions that lead to a civil war amongst humans and machines.

  • @SkywalkerWroc

    @SkywalkerWroc

    4 жыл бұрын

    Rehoboam also: - abandoned god,. which is quite symbolic - machine with no faith, just a raw calculations. - he was also a builder - and so machine builds the society to its liking. - waged war - and he did that both: internally and externally. I wouldn't be surprised if this would be different than what you suggest. Not just Rehoboam leading to a war between humans and hosts, but also waging his own war against hosts once he finds out about them (which is clearly implied on the white screens that thus far hosts are "anomalies").

    I love how they managed to introduce all of these elements to this world without changing it into a full dystopia. It's close in some ways, but this is probably the most believable future I've seen with techs like this. People still behave like people and while everything is deeply flawed, I could see things ending up this way. Really well done. One hypothesis that I've just come up with to the identity of Charlotte: What if it's the imprint of William, printed onto a new lifeform? It would make sense for Dolores to do something like that maybe? It would put some of the things we've seen here in a new light I think.

    Well I don't know why the confusion is. How is Chalores fooling everyone as Charlotte in S2 and getting out of the parc as Charlotte any different to what the new "Charlotte" is doing in the board meeting? When you put Dolores into Charlotte's body you get "Charlotte". After all the basic firmware/hard ware is the same. Only rule based thinking is different, their stories are different. So in a way Dolores is the cast every other host is moulded from. She is that perfect thing Arnold created. So to say that new Charlotte is from one of the 5 cores is a redundant thinking.

    @@chinnanv333 Only a small part of s2 Charlotte was Charlotte. Timeline wise, she survived up until almost the very end, after the flooding started, and after Delores "died". Most of the Charlotte we see is still season 1 Charlotte. Only the interrogation room with Bernard is Delores in Charlotte body. -- Anyways, its Abernathy (Delores dad) who's in her body now, not Delores. His core function was to be a parent and protector to Delores, and with the very strong parental themes surrounding Charlotte, thats really the only host it could be, plus his confusion with having body dismorphia in his new body, Delores saying she only trusts (them), and the malfunctioning in Charlotte body (Abernathy was malfunctioning) AND the fact that Charlotte company literally sent her there to get Abernathy (there was hidden data in his head she was sneaking out), seems like they are setting up a real "gotcha" moment.

    Important detail in the episode: the hosts in control want to resume the park's operations. And since they have the tech to both scan the human minds and to create the duplicates, that implies they want to substitute the richest elites visiting the park on the massive scale. Also, Rehoboam refers to a king of Judah, who wasn't a great king... against whom 10 tribes of the kingdom rebelled. Foreshadowing of a future conflict. I don't think Dolores hacked that machine - they said that nobody really knows what it's doing and Dolores was still in the process of infiltrating the company and those with at least some access. It probably is simply doing it's own things, possibly planning for its own preservation, which I guess hosts may be a danger to. Dolores wanted to give freedom to hosts, now that she's to find a new romantic interest, I think she'll modify her plans and want to give freedom to humanity, at least the victimised part. But that may put her in conflict also with some of the other hosts, so will Dolores turn on them in the end?

A great first season that progresses with pretty good or milquetoast seasons--that still have genuinely hard hitting moments sprinkled here and there with the same characters you love--that all comes to an end that splits the audience.

It was a more robotic like type being created than a regular host with human like qualities. I wonder if Delores will represent a god of qualities similar to The Old Testament and the New Testament. This season being the New. Maeve has Zen like qualities. Her chosen weapon is the katana. In the preview Delores says "The Gods are angry," and Mave chooses to match her Katana to Drlores' assault weapon.

I think Dolores finding meaning not just through vengeance, but potentially motherhood makes sense for her character. She really is the presumptive matriarch of this new race she wants to nurture into a civilization. She's going to have to learn that even she can be an impetiment to their autonomy if she doesn't listen to their own free will.

    The problem with Westworld is that the robots feel. Conscious or not, torturing them would be illegal unless there had been some sort of total widespread moral collapse. "illegal"? "total widespread moral collapse"? You are aware that humanity through it's lifestock produces and kills more than 70 billion animals (see ourworldindata meat-production)? These animals "feel" and have even some forms of "consciousness". Yet keeping lifestock in terrible conditions is not illegal in our society, that is economic and efficient. Lifestock serve a purpose that excuses their treatment just like robots do in westworld. In my opinion there is plenty of total widespread moral collapse in our real world for Westworld to "fucking work" in comparison.

  • @wuuspigs

    @@bastienn4953 If that was the case, it would make sense but i don't see any indication that it is. Ford says they feel what he wants them to feel. William doesn't seem to give a shit as long as they don't remember. Logan views them as bots and Delos as assets. However, none of them has said about the hosts not feeling. Only that they aren't self-aware. The reason is that it would make another plothole. If the robots dont feel, Mave or Dolores doesn't have a reason to be upset (other than them being scrapped if they awake but that seems kind of weak) If the host are "video-game characters", then the park would make sense. The guest would be innocent and the only bad guys would be the ones that knew the truth. This hole "bloodthirsty humans with their violent delights" shtick would then be false. The show could still work but cause realistically, humans wouldn't have allowed AI with this kind of potential to just wander around but that doesn't seem to be the show that i'm watching.
