They need to keep it!! Pittsburgh doesn't care about history.
Could be the new shuman center.
I live right by this. None of the neighbours want it gone. There actually aren't too many people that actually live by it. The "neighbours" that want it gone are rich developers that don't care what goes on in the neighbourhood.
I'll take some of the block walls for retaining walls!
Why not put all the homeless people in there and remove the locks within
No ! GUT IT & rebuild the entire inside to apartments & Condos. Strengthrn up the walls & SELL IT as YUPPY CONDOS ! This is PRIME downtown real estate , a true historical building & cheaper to Sell and remodel than rip up the heavy stone work. THIS IS OUR AMERICAN HISTORY !!!
How does industrial use correlate with community development? C'mon.. Maybe the demolition figures should be released to the community before they decide whether to pay for it or if it's a more viable option to repurpose it into something that actually benefits/serves the community. I know, it's like yelling into the air. 😂
Government can’t do anything with those buildings, but private industry can. You would be stunned at some of the schools that they said were worthless and needed to be torn down, but ended up being sold and now they work wonderfully as office buildings and sometimes apartment buildings.. Bureaucrats are not the ones to check with when it comes to repurposing buildings. I’m sure some of the buildings aren’t needed at all, but it will cost millions to tear it down.. then you end up with a field.

Yup! I live in an old schoolhouse and it's awesome. I think it's a beautiful building and something can be done with it.
I'm sure it's not haunted 😮

$$$ Delux condos - one of the very best locations in the city. Gut the interior & build new apartments, add a dunkin donuts .

@SeaJay_Oceans they seem to want the areas around the bus lines as to avoid traffic but I agree that's a good idea.
