WESTERN Movie: Burt Lancaster in VENGEANCE VALLEY [English] [Full Western Movie] [Free Classic Film]

Фильм және анимация

Classic Western Movie, Full Length Western, Cowboy Film, English: Vengeance Valley, starring BURT LANCASTER, is a 1951 American western film directed by Richard Thorpe, with a supporting cast featuring Robert Walker, Joanne Dru, Sally Forrest, John Ireland and Ray Collins. It is based on the novel by Luke Short. In 1979, the film entered the public domain in the United States because Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer did not renew its copyright registration in the 28th year after publication.
The sons of a Colorado cattle baron, one biological and the other adopted, resent one another and fight for control of their father's cattle empire.
Director: Richard Thorpe
Writers: Irving Ravetch (screenplay), Luke Short (based on a novel by)
Stars: Burt Lancaster, Robert Walker, Joanne Dru
PLOT (Wikipedia): Fifteen years ago, wealthy but crippled Colorado cattleman Arch Strobie (Ray Collins), whose own son Lee (Robert Walker) was wild, took in young Owen Daybright (Burt Lancaster) as a foster son to help raise and control Lee. Now Owen is ranch foreman, but Lee, despite being married to Jen (Joanne Dru), is wilder than ever.
Unmarried Lily Fasken (Sally Forrest) gives birth but refuses to identify the father. After Owen gives Lily $500 to help care for the baby, her brothers Hub (John Ireland) and Dick (Hugh O'Brian) believe that he is the guilty party, but they are unaware that Owen has done this on Lee's behalf. The brothers try to beat up Owen and he lodges a complaint against them. Sentenced to a week in jail, they vow to get even as soon as they're out.
When Arch chides Lee for overdrawing his bank account by withdrawing $500 in gold, Jen realizes that Lee fathered Lily's baby. She confronts him and Lee tries to lie his way out. She decides to leave him but is persuaded by Owen and Arch to stay. Lee inveigles Arch to make him a partner in the ranch by saying that he will strike out on his own unless he gets a half-interest; he gets what he wants and learns that the other half will go to Owen, once Arch retires or dies.
Jen locks Lee out of their bedroom. He gets drunk, mistakenly believing she and Owen are carrying on behind his back. He schemes to get rid of Owen and make a fortune at the same time by conspiring with Hub and Dick to ambush Owen during the spring cattle roundup. On the trail, Lee secretly sells 3,000 head of the cattle, intending to run off with it, but Owen learns of the plan.
Lee pretends to change his mind. He persuades Owen to ride in with him to stop the sale, but in fact he lures Owen into a trap. Hub and Dick, waiting in ambush, wound Owen as Lee casually rides away. In the ensuing gunfight, Owen Kills Dick. Hearing shots, a group of trailhands ride to Owen's rescue. They chase down and shoot Hub. Owen catches up with Lee and tells him that they are both going to confess everything to Arch. Lee refuses and draws his gun, forcing Owen to kill him. Owen breaks the news to Arch and Jen.

I hadn't realized that Robert Walker passed away at 32 years of age. What a tragic loss. Burt Lancaster has always been a favorite of mine. When you are old you remember a lot of these great old westerns. My friend once told me old people watch westerns. I do watch more than just westerns. I am sorry that sometimes I forget to like a movie. I line some up here in KZread and fall asleep with them playing. Another hazard of getting old.

There were two Robert Walkers, Junior and Senior. The elder died young in 1951. Robert Walker, Jr. lived 79 years, was born in 1940 and died in 2019. Both were actors. They were so similar in looks they could have passed for twins.

GREAT WESTERN with Burt Lancaster. A realistic style with adult themes and alot of narration explaining how cattle droving is done. The mountain landscapes , cattle and horse riding scenes are spectacular. You really see how the cowboys worked. The acting is damn good too with a minimum of studio cheese.....

If young people were raised on this we would be in a much better place in this country. Especially when compared to Nov 2023. You couldn't pay me to watch anything, movie or TV show made after Seinfeld went off the air! Or Clint's UNFORGIVEN! I'm done ranting. Burt was top 5.

Robert Walker was a looking film star but he also had an evil look & the stories I have seen with him in them he always plays (very well) an evil, bad guy. Usually the bad guy is more homely, etc. Walker is in "Strangers on a Train" too.

A few days ago i got an idea that to put the pictures of the legends of western movies on my page of facebook. I know some of them . Then i typed a title on google : best of western movie stars ever. I got 6 of the best. Suddenly i saw a pic. Of Burt wearing cowboy clothes .i judged him just from his look that he must be one of them ..and he was in fact. It might be shame for someone who likes western movie not to know a big star named BURT LANCASTER until recently . But it,s o.k i,m not going to blame myself . I can watch the best of him ,hopefully on this channel ❤ These movies need to be translated to the watcher,s mother language. Actors speak very fast , i can,t cope with them ...

Movies are phenomenal for excellent exposure of so much in life... the bad and the good!!! There is truth in every single movie and it's up to us to figure out which is the real truth and what is total lies... and they showed the honest chronic ignorance and the intense cruelties of mankind which was always the unfortunate truth!!?!! 🙃
