Western Heights Forgotten Archcliffe Gate Casemates & Tunnels. Dover.

#WesternHeights #Dover #Napoleonic
This week we return back to the Western Heights of Dover to take a look at another fascinating part of the mass of Napoleonic fortifications it has to explore.
Here we take a look at the casemates which ran along side the now demolished Archcliffe Gate which once guarded the southern entrance to the fort.

This place was actually quite small compared to some of the other parts we also explored, hopefully those videos will be uploaded quite soon. Thanks for watching 👍😊

All that brick work how they tied in with each other truly fine craftsmanship. Your absolutely right it is beautiful inside besides the graffiti 👍👍👍👍

Up until now structures from the second world war has been my main interest but more recently I've really taken a liking to the older Victorian defences, they have an amazing craftsmanship and elegance about them, like you say.. Its a shame more isn't done to preserve them. 😔

We've been down to Dover twice this year now but won't get another chance for a while now.. There's just so much to explore we really need to live down there! 😆

We'd love to return back to Dover again, unfortunately we live so far away but no doubt we'll return in the future as there's still so much more to explore..

Just to let you know that you mentioned the urinal on the video but it was actually the W.C's. The urinal was the black wall behind you with the urinal tray along the bottom which you missed.😊

Oh right, really wish we'd had more time to poke about abit more and explore the place better, we had so many places to visit in such a short amount of time we had to give each place just a quick flying visit.. Thanks for the information and for watching 👍
