Norfolk Coast WWII Gun Emplacement Battery. Mundesley Norfolk.

#Norfolk #WW2 #MilitaryHistory
You join us this week at Mundesley on the east Norfolk coast to take a look at this emergency coastal WW2 gun battery.
Built in 1941 it's the best surviving example of its type in Norfolk. Two 6 inch guns were mounted on the octagonal concrete platforms and were linked at the back by a range of underground ammunition stores and shelters.

Thank you a enjoyable view , the insanity of councils cutting off the bolts ,very sad !

With all the bolted gun emplacements we've visited over the years we can honestly say we've never come across one that has deliberately been defaced like this by the local council especially after all the years it had been like that.. I'm sure if they were concerned about safety there must have been a better way.. Thanks for watching, glad you found it interesting 😊

Another fascinating video and a great example of the defences we had. The health and safety stuff really did make me chuckle, I bought some batteries from Amazon for a couple of AirTags that I use and I had an email recalling them because there was a danger of ingestion. No good though because I'd already eaten them! It's crazy

It was such a shame, like I said we've been to many gun emplacements in our time but never seen one where they felt the need to do this.. Health and safety really has gone mad! 😒

@@ExploringWithEmAndStu Oh yes! I forgot about that one! Last week I went to RAF Thorpe Abbots and found some awesome old buildings, think you've already been there I remember watching the video! Then popped in the 100th Bomb Group memorial museum whilst we were there!

Great explore as usual. That's my car in the carpark I was looking for Mundesley roc post but sadly all remains have been destroyed. Shame about the damage done by the council.

Oh really that's a shame, that ROC post was in fairly good condition 15 years back.. I suppose the farmer got fed up having to plough around it all the time 😔. I hear Aylsham post is quite decent but not been to it yet ourselves..

@ExploringWithEmAndStu yes I think the farmer did get fed up it was right in the middle of the field. Aylsham is on my next to do . 👍
