I fully agree with what you are saying Justice Carpio. It’s about time for Congress to issue a resolution to station a research vessel near the Ayungin Shoal and a full time Coast Guard station in that area. They can always use the already impacted seawater environment because of the overfishing of China.

On military aid from the US, Justice Carpio is on point. The HIMARS (system long popularized by Russia) is flexible, affordable and effective. It fits the bill in terms of archi defense. It is highly mobile thus difficult to hit and entails lesser training and maintenance. Long range missiles and other rocket systems should be the order of the day in defending our territory. This should include, among others ground based and air to ground missiles. Meantime, it will take sometime before we can go on the offensive especially against China. Given the technology on drones, fighter aircrafts may not even be our best option. Top of the line fighter aircrafts, ships especially submarines are expensive and take time to master. In the words of a former Jusmag guy, the budget of PAF may not even be sufficient to fly and maintain a squadron of F16s.

The Philippines cannot expect too much in US aid because US is also struggling economically and their aid budget is distributed evenly to different countries like Ukraine, Taiwan, Philippines and other countries.

The only way how to understand China's playbook is to interview Filipino people who live and work in China. Then you will get the wisdom from it.
