7:35 the two guns you see there are the L/44 for the A5 and earlier, and the L/55 used on the A6 and later, which is about 5 feet longer. So you are correct that they've future proofed the kit. Aside from the gun, all of the other changes are "under the hood" so to speak and wouldn't require different parts for the model.

The new leopard 2 looks like it can be built as a 2A5 or 2A6. BF has really pushed TY well beyond the 1980's with the West Germans. The Marder 2 wasn't scheduled to enter service until 1998, but was cancelled shortly after the end of the cold war.

Yeah, once a war starts, technological development and implementation advances at an unimaginable pace as compared to peacetime. Especially with the Germans! Remember that they went from Panzer IIIs at the start of WWII to King Tigers six years later.

@@HeadHunterSix I am not so sure if tanks that had their development cycle start in the late 80s would be fielded that quickly. Modern tanks are very complex beasts and a general war in Europe would have likely meant that more tanks would be needed as quickly as possible, just to keep up with attrition.

The longer gun is the L/55 that they installed on the Leo 2A6. So we're probably gonna get Leo 2A6 rules eventually.

Jon, had I seen this video yesterday, I might have ordered the West German box and book this morning instead of USA. These kits are _gorgeous_ !

Paul (one of my roommates) picked up this box!! We'll have some battle reports between some West Germans and Soviets soon!!! Wonderful box except for the planes. Man are those finicky as hell.

The 2A5 has the same hull as the lepord 2 tank, the 2A5 just had a new turret. It was introduced in 1990 not sure what team yankee WWIII time line is. The marder 2 wasn't due till 1997 but due to the unification, it was cancelled.

Battlefront should manufacture their own planes. The frogfoot in the Russian starter is the most horrendous kit I’ve ever dealt with. I have the west German starter and was really looking forward to the tornado but hopefully I’ll have better success with building it

The Four Deuce mortar track is the same kit that they put out for the Vietnam game. You can even see the 106mm recoilless gun on the weapons sprue. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJNs0amck6_dqLA.html

If u like to upgrade ur German army tanks, have a look online for some photos of aditional camo on German tanks... We used to put branches and parts of bushes on the front of the tanks hull and turret to max out the camo effect... It's like art work... Hmmm what's that over there, I think the big bush looks suspicious.... And that's the last thing u'll think or see before the muzzle flash... ;-)

@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall might look weird at first sight but put a nice look on the battlefield and some unique customization :-) there r a lot of great photos/videos online available of modern German tanks using that kind of additional camo... The German tanks also use a piece of cloth on the front lower hull to cover the space between the tracks... It also can be seen on many photos/videos online....
