This man worked the middle of the field when guys like Ray Lewis, Troy Polamalu, and Patrick Willis were lurking back there waiting for him. That took real courage. Great video NFL throwback!

Wow!!! Didn't know about his early days before New England. Always thought he was Wes Welker the slot star. Absolutely respect his game and now more so the person.
I remember just getting into football and being a short white guy that was primarily a RB because of me being really short yet being quick and being able to run routes always being called Danny Woodhead/Christian McCaffrey but mostly remembering my dad (which is an giants fan) saying hate to say it but you play like Wes Welker, at the time I never really knew bout him but seeing highlights really inspired me to keep playing, such a great reciever and example that you dont need to be the tallest or fastest to play good. He really lead on for players like Kupp and Renfrow now
The guy was money one of the toughest Patriots and an all time patriot

Loved this guy! Wish he won a ring...
I think with having Edelman we forget what Wes did. He was amazing. If anything patriots were extremely lucky to have Wes then Edelman. That doesn’t happen often.
Gil santos saying his name is awesome. RIP Gil
What is most inspiring to me about Wes Welker, besides the obvious (explosive player, etc.), is that he is the same height as i am- 5'9. In a world dominated by bigger men, he shows that his height means nothing when you have passion and power.
Hearing John Madden call a game again was awesome!!
love this guy!!
Amazing!
One of my favorite player!
I’m a huge cowboys fan but I have so much respect for people that get doubted because he’s not fast or tall. He’s definitely a player that I would have loved to see him wear the star. But since he never wore it, I was stuck having to watch pats games. I couldn’t ignore watching him play, I had to see greatness! He better make it to the Hall of Fame, he was as important as Tom was to the Patriots first couple of Super Bowl wins!

I disagree. Those rules didnt really take effect until 2011. 2004-2010 was still old school NFL. Theres a reason why there was only one 4000 yard passer in 2005, why Manning won MVP with "only" 27 td passes in 2008 and why he also won an MVP with 16 ints in 2009. It was still wayy harder to pass back then..2011 was when it really showed the changes. If the 2004 rule changes were so immediately detrimental, then why were physical corners like Revis, Bailey, Barber etc so effective after those rules??
@anitafloyd2554

Why did Ty Law have 10 ints in 2005 in a year where Tom Brady was the only 4000 yard passer if the rules were that effective in hurting defense? Why did the 2006 Ravens put up legendary numbers after?
