    Wow I'm thinking that the Hyperion's got to be about the worlds most comprehensive EQ.. I know Neve has an 8803eq that is 1u and has software presets that toggle, but there's some really next level features here between the hardware and software.. wow nice going Wes Audio, and cool Review! I think the future of hardware should always include USB link to software.. so awesome!

    i want to purchase an anolog eq and comp. i consider the hyperion but i´m not sure about the clean sound in comparison to Xfilter and some qualitiy software eqs like Acoustica Audio Ivory3 or Fabfilter Pro-Q2. Would love to see a short level matched comparison from you as you own these tools to see if these really bring some (clean) analog meat which plugins can´t deliver, especially when boosting the mids. love your channel!

  • @amdenis

    Great gear, and unlike the SSL and another more budget manufacturer (that is great for the money), it doesn’t have switch and pot noise… and HUGE headroom, which was a workflow limiting problem for me before- especially in 24/32 bit and DSD.

  • @mixbustv

    @mixbustv

    3 жыл бұрын

    It has rotary controllers, audio doesn't even PASS thru them. Switches are used in mastering gear for recall, here you have digital recall, which beats switches by a mile. 500 series has the same headroom than any rack, but doesn't affect SR/BR at all. The only gear with "huge" headroom it's 120v rail gear, like my PQ.

  • @sandramuncelli7976

    I sooo freaking agree! We spent the $ for the Wes gear and sold a bunch of other stuff. Had to be so careful not to hit the wrong switches on the SSL’s. The knobs were only audible if we moved them during soft parts. Switches like always, but only a few of them. But sucked having to worry about that. The 40 year old rep from SSL couldn’t hear it. Not surprised! Half the people over 30 in our industry abused the fk out of their ears for years. Sad.

  • @amdenis

    @amdenis

    @@sandramuncelli7976 - Yes, it’s a shame how many can’t hear well thanks to clubs, events and bad mixing environments. Similarly, many of the people engineering the gear have lost too much to know they are missing basic design flaws. Some things get caught by others, some doesn’t. I do a lot, especially philharmonic and historically important material on DSD256+ and found I can mix a lot longer without as much fatigue as PCM. It really surprised me. But it requires using the appropriate mic, room and production techniques to take full advantage. In contrast I sat in on a session with a wonderful musician and producer who has mixed shrill at 90-95dB for years on NS and says he’s “proud” he can’t hear anything over 11K.

    Hey David! Wondering if you can clear something up for me about the Wes Audio Titan + Calypso ad/da module. And sorry if this might get lengthy. I already own and use the calypso which I love for being able to connect my analog gear into daw sessions. My dilema is now I either want to house the calypso in a Titan chassis to utilize the ng500 connections inside the chassis to go through the 10-space connection to pass the audio from the other 8 slots into my daw but not sure whether that would be summed audio of 1 or up to all 8 slots or whether that provides an isolated channel for each slot. The documentation I found online seems a little vague. That, or I’m just a bit too dim to comprehend the full parameters of all the specs. Probably. Anyway, I’d also like to know what kind of latency it presents when using that internal signal processing in and out of the DAW; or, if it’s bad, I was thinking that maybe I should leave my calypso where I have it now to handle my outboard gear and buy instead the Cranborne R8 and then just connect any Wes Audio ng500 modules I might house in it to a usb hub for digital control and recall and take advantage of the summing mixer/no latency analog monitoring on the Cranborne.

  • @mixbustv

    @mixbustv

    2 жыл бұрын

    Titan will give you independent channels for each module, but I hve no idea about the latency because it also depends on your computer. But also, no matter what you use you will have latency because it your adda round trip (which you will compensate in your daw)
