This is a very moving song. You have a beautiful voice and the song would be complete if you sang the last verse as originally written. “Were you there when He rose up from the dead?” It is wonderful and enriching to know all that Jesus suffered for us, but his suffering was in order to conquer hell and the grave. And because of Him and His sacrifice, we can have eternal life, if we accept it. That is truly the beauty of this song. And for that I am eternally grateful.

The point of Lent is to reflect on the journey to the cross. Yes, it looks dark, as life often does, but resurrection is on the way.
