I think that Koloss is more geared to heavy diesel mechanics. You might think its counter intuitive to use a ratchet as a hammer, but I have seen mechanics out here in the woods using all sorts of tools as hammers, ratchets included! Wera knew what they were doing with the Koloss! 😆

Bought the 1/4" Zyklop set just because I thought it would be handy to add to my tool bag, especially after watching one of your videos on it. It has been so key in many situations. With the screwdriver bits, it essentially turns into a ratcheting screwdriver, as well. Just a great tool all around.

I had to write “on and off” on either side of that wera koloss. Lol but I love it. I use it in my 1/2 bag to give me a hammer and ratchet. Love it.

I watched your other video and got the Koloss and extension. A couple months after that, I got a flat on the pickup and had a chance to change a tire with it. It worked great, plenty of torque with the extension, and the soft face was good for putting the wheel cover back on. Thanks for the great videos !

The day I put a tool check plus in my bag was the day I took my stubby driver out. I’ve never found a job since where a stubby driver would be better than the mini ratchet that wera make. It has far more leverage and speed. Great tools

Ever since I saw wera's 1/2 option a few years ago I thought it was a brilliant idea as I've been using a cheap one for the past 10 years or so and hammer the metal work to a level position almost every time. I usually do that instead of using a hammer as I prefer not to take too many heavy tools to a higher elevation

The hype is a part of their marketing strategy. Just try real german tool manufacturers. For example Hazet, Stahlwille, Gedore. They offer MUCH smoother ratchets which are thinner and all in all the best option. Btw: Wera produces in Taiwan and Czech Republic. Too expensive for their foreign production.

One thing I never hear on people’s reviews is how much better the German tool steel is. I work out of a tool truck, and when I was early in my career I worked with a fellow with 1/4 3/8 1/2 and 3/4” chrome snap on sockets took two massive drawers in the service truck and he got a new truck in the middle of winter, and unfortunately the front compartment (where the tool box is commonly located) wasn’t sealed properly and leaked, a decent amount. Maybe 1/4” of rain in the bottom of the compartment if driving through a storm. Anyways he did what he could to get the water out and immediately got an appointment to have the truck company reseal it. Anyways just one storm and a few days in a damp compartment and his sockets took an absolute beating. Talking 4-5000 in sockets and they looked like steampunk chrome sockets. A chrome cow with rust colored spots. Impact sockets no one expects To be weather resistant but for $800 for 13 1/2” dr sockets. my damn grandkid better not see a sign of rusting. Anyways knipex we’re the first German bastards to start putting this “matte chrome” on their tools, and too be honest I never heard anyone even mention it as being some new super alloy, but after a few years and a couple wet winters I couldn’t help but notice how they were holding up. And of course wera has came along and picked up the Baton from knipex and began filling in the rest of the hand tool categories with this same super alloy, developed by guilt striken German engineers as a peace offering to the world. To which we say, it’s good but you still got a bit to make up for lads. But I digress…

It would be great if the 8000-A had a magnet inset at the end of it's anvil. That would eliminate the nut drivers in my bag. Doing HVAC and Electrical for a living dismantling and reassembling equipment upside down, on my side, or in the pouring rain is a pain when the screws can just fall out.

Can also use the little Rapidaptor. Depending how big the screw is, the magnet in that is usually powerful enough to hold the screw in place through the bit.

I just picked up the bit ratchet. I like it so far but the mechanism was really stiff. The machining and finish are superb, better than the felo mini in my opinion. The mechanical holding of the bit is stronger and can be used with stainless bits. I understand why the 1/4 " socket adapter is so long, so you can actually remove it but i wish they had an even stubbier one.

  • @MillisConstruction
