Carneddau ponies are a breed of Welsh Mountain Pony from the Carneddau mountains in north Wales. They are a distinct and wild breed that have I believe been brought to this reserve to help with nature conservation efforts. I did read somewhere that the breed has been around since the Bronze Age! They have been at the reserve for a while now but I have not had an opportunity before to get up close to them. So, when I saw them from the top end of the reserve I rushed down to the valley, as fast as I could on a rather hot day. I'm not knowledgeable about horses but they are fine looking animals and surely a great addition to any wildlife setting.
