I too am a pony lover. They are talented and smart. I have 3 that my children learned to ride on, and and we also drive them. I have always admired the welsh. Thank you for sharing this video, and making people more aware of the role these ponies play in their natural environment. It made me smile.

Henry Vlll wasn't the only Pony killer.. so were the coal mines... cruelty to say the least! I was just 16 in 1960,working with ponies down Choppington B Colliery, in roadways so low that the ponies used to be skinned to the flesh along their backs, and along both flanks on their hind legs, due to the use of tracing chains with no spacer bars. Inspectors turned a blind eye for obvious reasons....

Hurts to know they were treated so callously and inspectors didn't do their jobs. Poor, poor things. 😥

Fabulous film NewZealand breeder of Welshmountain ponies for 53 yrs

I just saved Lola from a kill pen 2 months ago. She was ready to be shipped to Mexico and my vet and I cannot understand why she was even there. She is just going on three and the vet says she is Welsh.

Do you still have your welsh mare? I have a palomino welsh cob stallion down here in central Texas that I bought last year just to breed my older maiden mare quarter horse. He has only been used to pasture breed and to guard sheep. I'd love to exchange info with you, I'm trying to build my horse network, especially with people interested in welsh horses, Mustangs, and quarter horses.
