That's a lot of grinding! You still need to grind, but this reduces time. Dave

5 acetylene,40 psi oxygen..

Great video! On another note could you tell me how to set up pattern for 10” at 45’ angle with 10” coming off of it at 20’ angle. If I can get email address I can send picture of the thing. Thank you sir.

Dave Osland Pipe coming out of ground is 10 3/4” od facing north. Pipe coming in from east at 90’ angle is also 10 3/4” but is elevated at 20’ angle.

Good to hear it. So many welding videos, most with no follow up....

I'm a bit confused as to why you wouldn't cut the two welds with an angle grinder to remove the bar. It seems a better method, but I'm short on experience, so I could use a little help turning on the light bulb in my head.

Good question- After welding the plates, the back up bar is continually fused (or should be!) to the test plates. Cutting just the two welds would still leave the back up bar solidly welded to the 2 test plates. Some welders cut the test coupons with a saw or plasma before removing the back up sections. Either way, both the root and face need to be taken down flush with the original surfaces before a guided bend test is done-

The acetylene "scarfing" tip can be rested directly on the plate and rolled in and out to cut- easy-peasy! Dave
