Why do I wear safety glasses under my welding helmet? One because prescription safety glasses, but mostly because I've had spatter go in the helmet and land on my eyebrow

warning everybody, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about with the respirator, the p100 filter protects only against particulates and will do nothing to stop the dangerous vapors

Cr(VI) distribution as a function of particle size, ranging from 0.18 to 18 μm. A P100 filter is effective down to 0.05 μm, so it seems this is effective against the harmful fumes from welding (particularly stainless steel).
