This is the most detailed and best coverage of all the beginners videos I've watched so far. You don't "assume" that we know "something" already, and you cover things I've never seen before. It is like you teach a new guy at your shop who has never weld before, and you don't want to miss a thing. Kudos for a well made instructional video. Thank you.

Point: Shielding gas doesn't protect the weld from impurities floating in the air. It protects the weld from the air itself; which is comprised of gasses mainly oxygen and water vapor. It is being picky but new welders may not understand that it is the air you are shielding. I like all videos that explain welding and get more folks trying to learn this valuable skill. Thank you for this series.

Great tutorial, thanks! The two scales on the gas regulator are liters/minute (L/m) and cubic feet/hour (CF/h). Since there are 28.3 liters per cubic foot, it makes sense that the scales are approximately 2:1.

Shielding gas displaces oxygen so you don’t get rapid oxidation while you’re welding. Prevents instant corrosion basically from the intense heat of welding 2 components together.

Yeah, in some parts he's moving around a lot where it looked like it would be hard for the camera to follow, but he gave a lot of practical advice/knowledge and he is speaking from experience. He did a good job.

came here to refresh myself on mig welding as I haven't done it in nearly 8 years. I primarily weld stick but for you absolute beginners please pay attention to the safety aspect of welding. can't stress it enough, the last thing you want is a welding light burn. always wear the proper protection and always make sure your lens in your helmet is in there correct. I can attest to how bad it can mess up your eyes, I had 2020 vision before my eyes got light burned and now I need glasses to see fine beyond 10 feet.
