    Have you tried those medium stones they are 1/16” thick really great for marking out stuff they really don’t need to be sharpened I buy a box of 120 at a time and have a nice little brass holder for it that fits in my shirt pocket great those and the silver pencils are my favorite for layout

    I honestly feel like some of the worst and most difficult projects are the dumpy, rusty, nasty, crappy projects that people bring you and expect an exorcism. For what you were given, and for the tools and equipment you currently have, I’d say you did great! Not sure if it was intentional or not?, but I think the timing of the snow plow exorcism video right before Halloween was genius! 🎃 😂👍🏻

    What thickness metal did you use to patch the whole top area of the plow? Also do you think it could be done with a flux welder?

  • @mcfwelding

    @mcfwelding

    Жыл бұрын

    i used 1/8" material and yes i actually would have rather done this job with flux core wire. flux core would have been much easier to run on this thin rusty stuf

    Nice work getting that old hog fixed up. Always surprised by what people will pay to get fixed. Probably will get him by for a few more years till it gets holes else where. Like you said it actually needs a whole new skin but that isn't cost effective for a cheap plow.

    On that crack at the back of the boat I would have started welding on the inside at the bottom of the crack and proceeded uphill to the flat and then across that In all welding situations I tend to try to start welding where the least amount of heat is required and finish welding where the most heat is needed...that way your not getting your butt kicked by the temperature increase of the base metal as you work

    Great video, considering I was wondering how you make a bend like that without a metal press. So, did you charge him the $350 day rate plus 3 hours and material? Just trying to see how you negotiate your price. Because if you got around $600 for that job, the guy would have been smarter to just get a whole newer blade on market place or eBay, etc. Just an fyi the bottom piece he was missing completely is called a wear bar. I've had to replace mine twice in the last 16 years. Nice work though once again!

  • @mcfwelding

    @mcfwelding

    600 was the price and I did mention to him about a new plow but he wanted to pay to have this one fixed

  • @turfcommando9216

    So what did it cost to do that patch job? I'd of convinced him to locate another blade, and I'd swap them out or reskin blade sheet steel isn't too expensive

  • @mcfwelding

    @mcfwelding

    3 ай бұрын

    That was talked about but he said if he bought a new blade he would swap it all out himself. So I wouldn't have got any work from him if he did that.
