The documentary was a nice gateway drug to soccer but there are so many more incredible documentaries on soccer. Sunderland till I die is the documentary that Ryan Reynolds watched that made him buy the Wrexham team. You also have Diego Maradona documentary that Martin Scorsese said is his favourite sports documentary. Take Us Home: Leeds Utd narrated by Russell Crowe. Next Goal Wins, which Taika Waititi is making a soccer comedy movie based around this documentary. All of Nothing Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal narrated by Ben Kingsley, Tom Hardy and Daniel Kaluuya. Aaron Rogers and Tom Brady are said to have watched these documentaries and become hardcore soccer fans because of it. The ones I mentioned are even better than this one.

The fact it was a fan owned club was a major advantage as it had no debt. No one was going to lend the fan base money to improve the team as it’s mostly normal people with normal jobs or pensions so they couldn’t be sure of loans being paid if the club underperformed. Total clean sheet for rob and Ryan to start with. It was bought by the fans years ago to take it away from bad owners who were trying to milk money out of the club and grounds. The tv series is great and the second season looks like a better one than the first, they couldn’t have scripted either seasons final matches better for tension and anticipation. But I do love that I watched a few videos of rob and Ryan, on American day time tv and a sports chat, and Ryan and rob both came out and said their “just calling it football now. There’s American football and football. “ They know they can’t own a football club and be taken seriously if they call it soccer so they just admitted defeat and now call it football, easier for them than to have to try to switch between the 2. Makes sense as they will always be now using “football” in any and every aspect of Wrexham.

@@thefilmcubano no worries. Just found out a few days ago that the other team that gave Wrexham a challenge for the top spot were also recently bought by 2 Norwegians but they didn’t have the money or the Hollywood effect but still made 2nd and won the play offs. That’s an added rivalry for the coming season but mainly great news that the Norwegians were successful and their effect wasn’t spoiled trying to gain promotion by being unlucky and up against the Hollywood factor.

First of all Wrexham are not one of the worst teams in Europe, they had a glorious past and have just been going through troubled times, secondly Wrexham is in Wales which is in the UK and we use the £ pound sterling and have from at least 1694,not the Euro. So its Football not Soccer, and as modern Football comes from the UK and has spread to the world its football

I just want to be clear… Wrexham are certainly NOT “one of the worst teams in Europe” yes they’re in the lower divisions of English football, but they are still a fully professional club who’s player’s full time job is playing football to an incredibly high standard. The equivalent leagues throughout the rest of Europe even in other great footballing nations are semi-professional, they are mostly run son a volunteer basis and have nowhere near the finances of non-league football in England. It’s a totally different kettle of fish.

@@thefilmcubano don’t get me wrong they’re still what is referred to as a “non-league” team (a club that is outside of the top 4 leagues in England) so they aren’t going to be winning major titles by any stretch of the imagination. But comparatively, Spanish, German, French, Italian etc non-league teams are essentially just social clubs run on volunteering and good faith. Non-league teams in England/Wales however have ridiculous finances by comparison.
