I love when Shane mentions that sometimes he just goes and sits and does some thinking, which is as important as doing. I just get that very much, and it's pretty awesome to hear Shane say that.

Cool man. I get that too.
Birmingham and Coventry especially were great cities to hang out in back then. Lots of great memories.
Used to tape trade with Shane in the mid 80s before he was in Napalm. Great guy.

That's pretty fucking epic, my friend
My life would have been a lot darker and less interesting without Shane and the Napalm lads along with all the side projects they've variously done. I still remember Scum coming out and still play it almost weekly though my neck muscles can no longer get through it. If Shane by chance ever reads this: a massive thanks to you!
Shane is the Geezer Butler of Grindcore. Super cool guys both of them. 🤟
I used to work in Costermongers and knew Shane, Mitch and Jessie well. TOP LADS! Great times. I’m “Irish Tom” Shane if you ever fancy catching up! 🍻
I got to see Napalm Death at The Channel in Boston for their Grindcore Tour (Harmony Corruption) w/ Godflesh. At the end of the show, my buddy and I got to meet Shane. No backstage or VIP pass needed. He came right out into the crowd and signed the tape insert foldout of their tape for us. Getting to see him play that bass and Mick Harris pummeling those blast beats was absolutely mind-blowing for the time. Hey Shane - thanks for taking the time for a piss ant little metal head!

The Channel! I saw them there in '91 (?) with Sepultura, Sacred Reich and Sick of it All. I was exclusively a hardcore kid so I wasn't expecting to like anyone but SOIA, but ND fucking ripped. They were so fast and so tight. Big fan ever since. Really wish I could have seen Godflesh.
0:45 - great to see the "Metalmania" DVD on the shelf of Napalm House :) I gave it to Shane at The Peel in Kingston-upon-Thames on October 21, 2006, during European Smear Campaign. Great to know that Shane didn't put it in the bin but still keeps it, really :) The DVD contains, among others, the video footage of 3 songs by Napalm Death + interview with Barney recorded at Metalmania Festival in Poland in 2005. This is HQ multi-angle recording.

I had many great nights out in the Peel around that time. Lots of gigs and faces back then.
The house that Napalm built! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and memories! I I met with you once in Columbus, Ohio! Two weeks before the Dime bag Darryl murders. Thank you and the band for singing my CDS! 🔥
Shane and Napalm Death are legends!
Was a young metalhead in Brum at that time. Bumped into Shane in some of the places he mentioned. Always friendly, always cool. Happy times.
Nice TEST shirt!
I remember seeing Shane at a Jane's Addiction gig with Primus as support early 90's... Great night.
I could listen to these stories for hours... 🔥

It’s funny how one day we catch ourselves contemplating the lines on the face of the man in the mirror and realize how quickly and how much of time has passed.

Class act dude!!! Him & Mitch both great folks…. ⚡️⚡️
What a legend. Love the house, the memories.
Excellent video! Always a great pleasure to chat with him! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thank You Shane!!!
This was fascinating and well shot. Cheers all involved.
Loving the massively expensive Michael Gira collection book casually perched on some PS4 games. Love Shane
Saw ND open for Sepultura in Dallas in 1991 on the New Titans on the Block tour. Absolutely brilliant f'ing show. I'll never forget it as long as I live.
Great to see this after reading about that house several times in the book i just finished 👍🏼👍🏼
I read his book which I really enjoyed. I would like a nice hour doucumentary of this. Great stuff, such a humble guy.
Shane rocking a Test t-shirt! (insane grind duo from Brazil)
Wow, really love their open-mindedness to other forms of music!
Ordered my copy yesterday, can’t wait for it to arrive.
Ran into Shane at the Carcass reunion Tour when they played at the LA House Of Blues. Such a great show and I discovered Aborted at that gig. We saw Shane in the crowd and bumped into him at the Bar. Such a cool, down to earth dude.
I really enjoyed that!
Seems like a very good egg. Would happily buy him a pint and just listen to stories. My old mate Tom Goober know's the guys, made a video or two for them.
Ah this made my day. Lovely bloke.
I recall seeing Shane a few times in Gosta Green pub called Old Union Mill. Just up from Sack of Potatoes and Pot of Beer. Nice guy. I worked behind bar.
Absolute Pommy Rock legend. Him, Iommi and Lemmy!
Even though I’m a fair bit younger than him (I’m 41) it’s interesting how much nostalgia there is in this for me-if forgot how many venues in Birmingham had changed names / changed hands over the years…
Brilliant thanks 🤟🏽
"It was in the 90's so,you know,we were going out partying every night.", yep that sums up the 90's pretty well, thank you for all your music Shane :)
This should be declared national treasure and preserved
What a nice chap!
Great guy, great band. One of the best out of Birmingham
Wow, it's a small world. I am old friends with Gary, Mike and Jimmy from "Eye Hate God," because we all grew up in the New Orleans area. I am actually wearing an "Eye Hate God," t-shirt that Gary gave me. I wonder if the fellas know that there's a big "Eye Hate God," banner hanging on a wall in the "Napalm Death" House?

I met him in Stratford. He's a really nice bloke.
Couldn't help thinking of the Paul Whitehouse "I was very, very drunk!" character throughout - half expected him to say it @ the end 😂
sounds like they've had a good life just playing music and going to shows
Great interview, random question but what’s the history with that clock that we can see behind you? I am from the West Midlands and have had one very similar in my family since the 80’s! 👍🏻🎵
Fascinating, but not once did he mention going orienteering with Stewart Lee! 😉👍🇬🇧
I had the chance to play with Napalm years ago, Shane was an awesome real person but Barney on the other hand was a "expletive deleted".

peep that eyehategod tapestry, great taste 👌
Where can I get that Test shirt?
Saw him n dino outside of Harpo's around 92 or 93???
I figured he lived in a hoarder house with pizza boxes and funkopops stacked to the ceiling where he would crawl thru tunnels and poop in coffee cans.
Scrolling I thought thos was John Goodman for a sec.
