Nice video, be careful building a fire next to sandstone. Many years ago my buddies and I was camping on the farm. We built a huge fire next to a boulder the size of a truck. As the night went on we was all sitting around the fire telling stories. If I remember correctly it was 11pm so the fire had been burning for several hours, heating up the stone to an exploding point. All of a sudden the loudest boom (point blank mining caps exploding) I’ve ever heard, suddenly lights out no fire nothing but total darkness. Let’s just say about 10 young boys went running in every direction. After nerves calmed down we went to see what happened. The entire half slab of rock split in half falling on the fire. Never the less we didn’t built another fire next to a stone like that. Lesson learned for us haha

After plenty of times camping in winter, I really felt that last big gulp of warm water you drank. It works for me, but that's got nothing to do with the alkalinity. When going to sleep in a cold environment, that warm belly feeling is relaxing to the max. Rehydration when sleeping is the main attractor to that habit, but the warmth is really nice. You can supplement content by making evergreen tea though.

Love ❤️ the snow ❄️ in the woods like that. It’s so beautiful and quiet. Very cozy shelter you built there. Great the way you developed it. You must be planning on coming back, stocking firewood and all. Winter has been very disappointing here in northern Illinois. Not much in the way of snow and cold temperatures. Many people assume it is allowed to take off branches from dead trees but it is in fact forbidden by Swedish law. Let alone assumingly dead branches from living trees. You can only pick branches that lay on the ground and that still excludes large ones like in the video. Dead tree's are very important for biological diversity. Also, making a fire against the rock wall is forbidden by law.

Peace be upon you, your brother from Morocco🇲🇦❤️. I want to say we ask God for safety in this world and the hereafter. Indeed, it may be events such as drowning, fire, earthquake, snowfall, sleeping in forests, remote places, and other natural quarts. Therefore, we must educate children and young people on the way to escape from every predicament, such as sports, swimming, cooking, hunting, heating with wood, and building a house to enter in case of emergency, all of this for the sake of survival. Thank you.

Okay.. ...... For most of the video his sweater has no snow on it but his hat does. That proves that he takes off a coat for the video shots... In case you did not understand that of course.... I have seen him struggle using a box of matches and use 3 matches at once instead of 1. I have seen him leave the only piece of structure he has "his sled" and not use it as part of the shelter like the door or as basic insulation. You do not carry a cast iron pan around with eggs because of weight. Eggs come in there own pan. And most of all someone should not go camping for 3 days with no tent and film it because people will try to do it and get killed. The world is not a joke and should not be treated as such. Wow no facial hair grows in 3 days? You must keep the camera on motion detection for battery life for 3 days or carry a solar panel or batteries for when you make a tent out of sticks. Or you crawl around and than set up a camera than crawl back in and than out of your stick house for video like you are staging the moon landing or something. Build your house out of bricks not straw. You have theses people believing you and they may go try to sleep in a bush......... And they will get sick or die.

I'm pretty sure you're aware of this, but always check that your cave isn't already inhabited. I learned this the hard way. In my case "my" cave was inhabited by a great horned owl, and about all he did was scare the crap out of me. The bird could have really messed me up with his talons, but fortunately didn't!

during snow camping you don't want to be warm all the time most of the time when you are working you want to be "comfortably cold" meaning you wont sweat when working or moving around. in my neck of the woods I have to wait till it stays below 28f for at least three days so it is a dry cold instead of a wet one (wet colds take forever to warm up from) just so I can winter camp

What a beautiful environment. The shelter you built was nice and straightforward and reasonably easy to assemble. You looked comfortable and warm. I felt a little guilty watching you keep warm as I just changed my heating temperature using a remote control, whilst not moving an inch🙂. I like that you don't cut everything down and you respect the environment. Particularly using dead or dying branches from the tree. Your narration of what is happening and why you do a task saying your considerations for the way you do a task is very useful. I like the jumper you wear too. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Funny this showing up when it did. I was just thinking of ways I might stay warm in the open grasslands of saskatchewan and this very type of shelter came to mind though I'd never seen it done. At least not by man. Lots of white tail bedding down in the cattails and longer grasses of these low lands in the winter.
