This looks like the best possible adaptation we could hope for. They got so many things right just in that trailer, things have to be changed for it to work over the pond, there's nothing that can be done about that but it certainly looks like they kept them as minimal as they could. Top marks for casting ordinary looking people as the cousins. Could you imagine if they tried to use a Kardashian as Kerry?

i think you're right, i was trying to explain it to my girlfriend and overproduced is the perfect term to describe it. Sort of missed the point of the mundanity of small town life, however maybe they were aiming for something slightly different

yeah i though the style was familiar then they said they were cousins and they started talking about not liking the cinnamon sweets and their cousin does like them, at which point I said yet another import of a british show, they've just announced an american version of Ghosts

@@corvus2512 its a TV show... the one in this trailer, copied all of the jokes and story from "This Country" I get your confusion, but with context that you're on a trailer for a show, and nearly 50 people liked the comment... clearly it isn't "words with no meaning"... maybe you should sometimes consider that you're missing information, and that it's not others saying something you think has no meaning...

Great to see Seann William Scott in this as part of an ensemble cast!

@@amandafrazier9724 - Cool idea, the more I think about it. He could easily channel Harry's wit and snark, and he was excellent in the action and dramatic moments of Lethal Weapon. I think he's the kind of casting that folks wouldn't expect (and would initially complain about), but then he could just knock it out of the park in a way nobody expected.

It might be okay, trailer didn't send me over the moon though. Funny concept at least. I like that it's presented as a documentary, not the cheap trick of people just talking into a the camera and it's never referenced like Parks and Recreation or Modern Family(no disrespect to those very funny shows, just kinda lazy).

I know this is the American remake of This Country (which I LOVE) but unfortunately I don't think this looks like it has grasped the charm of the original. I see some recycled jokes, which is fine, but they don't work as well - like a box of celebrations is imdeded in british culture, but I don't think munchkins are on that level; most importantly, I don't know how vital of a role the local vicar / priest would play in an american small town whereas in a british villiage the church is basically the community centre, regardless of religion, because a british villiage is much smaller than an american small town (and walkable, which is a huge difference in terms of how the people interact)

Looking at the size of the small town being portrayed in the trailer it would be what we call a Village in Britain. This church will most likely be the center of the community as well. Just different uses of names of places that is confusing. In no way is this place meant to be what we think of as a small town.

In the South for example, you might think that a preacher/priest/pastor etc. would be the center of small town life, but not so because there are usually about 3-4 sectarian churches in a town so there are a lot of different clergy and they can’t all be the center of the community. In Ohio it’s more possible because there’s places where the vast majority will be of one sect. This church looks Lutheran or Episcopal.

I thought the American Office was how you should do it. Make it it's own thing from the original Idea. It's pretty damn good in it's own right tbf and has a totally different tone to the UK version. Love em both.

@@Leanne2401 Yeah, while I don't really like either versions of the Office, I appreciate that after the first US season they changed it to be more like an American sitcom with lots of slapstick. I think Taskmaster could've worked, as its worked well in other countries (especially New Zealand), but since they repeated tasks instead dof making their own it felt unoriginal and some of the contestants seemed like horrible people.

I feel the world is finally getting close to some kind of normal seeing Scott back in the game.

I'm a simple man, I see Aya Cash's name in the title, I click.

Okay as someone who’s watched both shows let me settle some of the discourse in these comments. A.) it’s not a “This Country” rip off, it’s an American Adaptation of the show with Daisy Cooper and Charlie Cooper literally on as executive producers. - The first episode of Flatch is basically a word for word remake of This Country’s first episode, but after that the show finds its own footing with a few references and callbacks to the original series sprinkled in. B.) Yes, Kelly is supposed to be Kerry but Shrub on the other hand is very much not the same as Kurtan; he’s adapted from him and experiences a lot of the same storyline’s as Kurtan (for example in the S1 finale, same as the This Country S1 finale, Shrub prepares to go to college) but all in all the characters are completely detached from each other. - Also, Daisy and Charlie approved of the casting choice for Sam and Holmes as their american counterparts. C.) If you’re complaining that your from a small town and this is nothing like what small towns are; congratulations on figuring out Flatch is supposed to be a sensationalised unique town that’s completely detached from the rest of American society; hence why they say multiple times in the show that flatch is like no other, and why “not the worst place to be” becomes to towns slogan in the “RIP Cynthia” episode. D.) Yes it’s “overproduced” compared to This Country, but it’s America and it’s on FOX and they had a $35M budget to utilise, so why are you surprised? E.) it got renewed for a second season already so you can stop with the “it’s going to get cancelled after 5 episodes” comments. Aight. You’re all caught up. ✌️

F.) Daisy Cooper and Charlie Cooper literally are listed as executive producers because they created the original and have absolutely *nothing* to do with the adaptation. They don't produce it, they don't write it, they are not involved in the making of it in any capacity. Charlie Cooper has openly stated their involvement with this adaption is simply "picking up a paycheck". Being listed as "executive producers" was part of the deal of selling it so they'd still get paid. G.) It's cancelled.

So now we know where they've hidden Stormfront... Honestly i'm impressed !

Glad Daisy and Charlie are cashing in they deserve it Good on um 👏👏👏

I was just thinking that I hadn’t heard from Seann William Scott in a while. 😄

I hope this show gets another season once the writer's strike is over. Nobody has ever heard of it when I suggest it. It gets no advertising that I have ever seen, I just happened to see it on Hulu one night and I was hooked. I've watched the whole season twice, watching it a second time with my daughter. Every time someone takes my recommendation they love it though! It's such a great cast, they're perfect together.

Any American who can get access to BBC streams I implore you to watch "This Country" before you watch this

Missing the mom you never see, but always hear and the general gormless facial expressions, of being in the back of beyond. It misses the dead end spirit of This Country.

I feel like this will be lucky to get a season 2 but if it does then I see it lasting many seasons if they get into their groove. people pan things too quickly if they don’t like the first season, but a show really doesn’t find its feet until season 2 onwards. I’m open to this show

I agree sometimes you gotta give shows a chance and let it find its footing. Honestly best thing to do is not look at reviews and ratings and make your own judgement based on how satisfied you are, you ll enjoy Tv a lot more that way

Give it a chance folks, it's looks a laugh. I love Daisy May Cooper and This Country and I'm sure I'm gonna love this wacky American comedy too.

The original is very good. If they can successfully adapt it for a US audience (and like The Office US that means giving it time to become its own thing) it could be special.

Aya Cash should have won an Emmy for her work on You're The Worst, but she wasn't even nominated. What a shame. She's great, and Sean William Scott is a riot.

Mac would love to see how far Country Mac has come, in another life, as a man, and as a true…badass.

It's always good to give it a name change so it can be its own show, though if they want to capture some of the charm of the original the challenge will be keeping the writers' gag-writing instincts reigned-in and letting the show find an audience with a longer attention span.

This looks like American Letterkenny and I Am Here For It!

Looks like Trailer Park Boys went to England, took a nap before swinging by Indiana to visit the Parks and Rec folks, and then took a shit, forgot to wipe, and walked back home to Canada, dragging a red flyer wagon full of old comic books behind it. But that's just from watching the trailer that makes no sense, so ya know....probably a great show and I'm thrilled it's got a second season coming.

I see Vought restored Stormfront, erased her memory (work of another Supe, perhaps?), and placed her in hiding in a small town. Nicely done.

AJR are getting featured in more and more trailers and adverts. We love to see it.

This show is fn awesome. I hope enough people are watchin it. I need it to stick around for awhile.
