Welch Dickey Loop in the White Mountains of NH
Check your settings to view this in 4K. This trip is mid-April. This is right as the winter is ending and the snow has only recently melted. So I go on up there with my snow shovel and microspikes and winter gear. It was a nice day and I found a place off the trail to pitch my tent for the night. Early the next morning, I was on my way again, enjoying this beautiful trail.

I went on this trail loop some years back and that video is on my list somewhere as well.
The Welch-Dickey trail loop is very popular, mostly among day hikers. The parking lot at the trailhead is paved. There is a fee to park there if you do not already have the annual parking pass for the White Mountain National Forest.
This loop is safest on a dry day. Check the New England Trail Conditions website to see if somebody has posted recent conditions.
Be safe out there! My videos are only offered as looks at the mountains and memories of my trip. Each outing will be unique so learn as much as you can before you go out into the wild.

This time of year, I follow a lot of the Appalachian Trail hikers. But it is so refreshing to see one of your new videos comes up. Thank you for sharing your solo adventures!

Thank you. I really appreciate the nice comment.
Always nice to join you on your hikes, having been in NH and a member of the AMC more years than I will admit to, I have learned more about my neighborhood from you than any other source, and I thank you!

'Minuscule people walking away' lol I totally relate. Adding this hike to my to do list. Thanks for sharing. I'm an avid birder as well. Had an Eastern Towhee here today.

Oh, good. I am glad somebody could relate to that. I was afraid I was being too negative. I don't actually hate people. It's just recognizing these quirks in my personality. I am an extreme INTJ type, so at ease with nature and not so natural with human interactions. Birds- yes - I am hoping to upgrade my bird sightings this spring!
Just hit the notification button! I always look forward to your content, efucational as well as beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Have fun! I saw about 10 people but they were spaced out and all were going counterclockwise, most of them during the afternoon. I think this is a trail running route because I saw several runners with no packs.
Congrats on your NH48 completion!

Thanks!
No wonder you didn’t run into anyone or have others come upon your campsite. That parking lot is never that empty. Must just be the early spring. Welch-Dickey never disappoints… so much view for so little elevation. Recall doing NH48’s after Welch-Dickey and thinking some of those summits just weren’t as nice as Welch-Dickey.

Yeah, I appreciated it so much more this time. Last time I sort of complained about the rocks and this time I treasured every rock. It reminded me of the Falling Waters loop in miniature, how you start off by the water and curl around over the summits with very few uninteresting moments.
Always a pleasure walking with you virtualy. Thanks !

Glad you enjoyed it. It was a peaceful one.
Very plaeasant. Love that ASMR sound track. Do you ever bivvy camp when you know the weather is going to be spectacular? Thanks for sharing the trip.

I have never bivvy camped or cowboy camped. I think that sounds good for a big rock and a clear, calm night. Maybe someday....
