Apparently the weissman score was developed specifically for this show by a mathematician

It is, I've worked in data compression before, never heard of any rate measurement being called "Weissman score". It's just a made up fictional score that holds no meaning.

Yeah, I mean I like that technology this was more computer science and mathematics focused. Like those who won are not the ones who have the biggest company but those who have made a breakthrough in Theoretical Computer Science

At first I wanted this show to continue but looking back at it now, I’m glad it ended and didn’t get dragged out more than it did. I would have been happy with a few seasons. This show was amazing and truly a comedy masterpiece.

Some parts were cut. Like at 1:09 when Richard is supposed to say "it shouldn't take long as it probably compressed half the fucking file" and acts awkward as he realize he just cursed on stage. The Weisman test is also shortened. It's a shame, the original is great. Maybe was it to avoid copyright infringement reports? Ah, probably because of the curse word.

I mean the weisman score sounds great but what about that copy speed. What kind of a external hard drive was that? My ssd can't do 120gb that fast.

Yep that's about the speed of US military drones from 2015. They used to proces about 30gb per second of photos.

@@adamhorn8414 That's kind of nonsense. The data still has to be read from the drive in order to reach CPU where the actual computation for compression happens. Unless you mean to suggest that regular flash drives have active memory?
