    Hey brother, I have watched you for a long time and I've noticed a trend that I feel is important to bring to your attention. You have a very hard time trusting how a disc flys. It's like you expect it to fly different than it does, and instead of correcting the aim point you try to correct with the angle to hit the aim point you want. I say this to simply state that it is way more repeatable to trust the disc and change the aim point vs change the angle of the throw to hit a desired aim point. Keep up the content!

    So I was at one of Scott Stokeley's seminars and he had great advice for putting. When you make the motion to putt, hold your pose at the end and you can generally see based on how you missed what you did wrong. Arm being a little too high up, low posture, etc. It's such a simple thing to think about but you really notice right away how you can go to fix your problems.

    Love seeing more of a positive attitude on some of the "bad" shots. It's so important to maintain a positive attitude in competitions. Using mistakes to fuel you is good, but negative self talk like, "That/I'm so bad dude!" doesn't help anything. focus on what you can change and work toward improving. Can't wait to see you tear up these tournaments!

    I feel like most Discraft discs after 5 speed feel a little smaller in the hand than basically all other manufacturers. The measurements confirm this.

  • @nyqpi33
    @nyqpi333 ай бұрын

    One thing i was wondering as we are both smaller people with smaller hands but you throw about 150 ft farther than me. Do you find that your thum leave scratched in smudges from thumb pressure? I have tons of arching smudges as my thumb comes off the disc that wont buff out. Amy i gripping too hard maybe? Just wondering if you had this experience.

  • @JaredTG.

    @JaredTG.

    I've only ever had any issue like that with soft discs. I put my hand and thumb in the exact spot every time and over time the disc develops a warp right where my thumb goes. I don't even know that I would call it an issue, it takes a long time for it to happen. If you're marking up more premium harder plastic with your thumb thats kinda wild, never heard of anything like that. Unless you're a mechanic or something and have grease on your hands I guess.

  • @nyqpi33

    @@JaredTG. it is most visible on glossy premium plastics like star. I dont think i have an extreme grip but every throw it leaves a scratched in smudge. It has only been happemimg the last 6 months or so since i have tried to concentrate on a pinch grip. I even started making my thumb like a 90 degree angle similar to joel freeman to make sure i had alot of pressure. I did find that alot of my flippier drivers would straiten out a bit and when i softened my thumb to put minimal pressure the smudges stopped but my discs would fly about 1 whole turn number more understable. I am thinking when i bear down with my thumb i was getting more front loaded and maybe more spin and with my thumb relaxed i was back loading and getting less spin so things would fly more understable. Just my theory though. I think i would prefer the proformance of bearing down (in theory) getting more spin, but i hate making some of my cool discs or ones i have only field tested look old and scraped up. It also hurts resale if i decide to sell them after only throwing them in a field where they have no other marks except from my thumb.

    @@nyqpi33 I once heard you should pull the disc like a parakeet: firmly enough that it can’t fly away, but not tight enough to hurt it. I have since adopted this advice and it has made a huge difference for my consistency.

    @@km5158 sounds like i am just grippi g to hard. I was trying to do the pinch grip but i guess not correctly. I was wondering if some pros had this problem like chris dickerson cause you see him indent his flightplate wirh hus thumb when he lines up his shot.

    Have you ever tried just not step putting? I ALWAYS shank my step/jump stuff I just started going lofty instead and it's worked out a little more consistently (at least my misses end up next to the basket more often than off a tree). Obviously I'm just out here being an idiot and you're trying to be on pro tour so maybe what I'm saying is dumb and not relevant but figured might be something to get the creativity going.

    @@prattacaster i am pretty sure it is spin rate. Pros know how to adjust how much spin to put on the disc and can adjust depending on the shot. I think that ability comes with the anility to spin it faster in the first olace though amd then they can take spin off if needed. Check out some top pros spin rates from using tech disc. Top rates are around 1400 - 1500 rpms! Crazy spin.
