Weird Style with Long Pimple Blocker

Today, I want to show you a weird style that many players hate playing against.
This is the blocking style with long pimple rubber. The uncle player is from Guangzhou. His name is Changjiao. Many players are upset when playing versus this style. Because the spin is reversed with the long pimple rubber. It's very annoying.

there are a lot of older amateur players playing this style and I used to hate to play against it. Usually, players like that try to block each ball with their pimps even when the ball on their forehand side and it's perfect for the forehand attack. I think it's due to their lack of basic table tennis skills. However, now I like to see and play against this style as these players make TT more diverse and they prove that there are still so many other ways to be succesfull in table tennis

Long pimple blockers are not that hard to play against once you figure out what long pimple actually do and it's limitations. Main thing is to understand spin reversal and to take the ball with a much earlier timing as those reversed returns do not bounce up like top spin does. If you concentrate on speed and don't give the blocker too much spin to work with, they are at a disadvantage.

Also check how good their attack is, sometimes it’s easier to just keep dropping them lazy balls and let them attack.

I love using long pips. Mostly because everyone hates it, and calls it cheater rubber or old man rubber or unskilled rubber...those people think all table tennis is just loops. So much whining about how hard it is to play against...so many assumptions about lack of skill or fitness on the part of the pips user. I can run down a loop, to chop it with my pips OR twiddle and loop back. I can block close to the table with my smooth rubber, or I can block it with the long pips. I've tried each rubber style there is, and that gave me a better idea of how to play against it... rather than just complain that pips are an easy, lazy way out 😇

This is tipically the style of player that can make you crazy if you play your regular style. Force yourself to play flat ball then attack on the forehand as soon as possible during all match give headache.

Well in Vietnam, there're alot of people using long pimples to block - I promise, I played with some and they have some cons like it's hard to block a powerful topspin but once it's returned , it'll be crazy backspin .

I think they do not play table tennis just their long pips rubber plays for them

I find perfect happiness defeating long pimples, illegal servers, blockers, antispin rubbers and other weird rubber styles plus bonus these guys get more nets as they mostly trying to block 😅. You just have to patient, powerful flat hits and drives are best. Looping gives these guys time to block. Either do heavy top spin do a third ball attack after block.

I used to play similar style for 6 months but got back to inverted rubbers. I feel the best is to be blocked but if the ball is too high you need to step back and chop, 60% of the time when opponent pusher i just turn around and attack with my very powerful forhand. If the ball isn t well set up i attack in the body with the long pips and wait to finish the poing on the next shot. Most players will get confused when you mix attack and defense

i play long pips as a training aid for me and my partners. i've gotten really good at chops, blocks, and drives. if all i cared about was winning, and took no pride in my own skills and training, i'd probably consider using them for games. but essentially, and for the most part, long pips players rely on the weirdness of the rubber to others. its the rubber thats playing, not the player. ironically, if a long pip's player actually develops skill, they are easier to play inasmuch as they are the "authors" of their stroke, and therefore somewhat readable. playing unskilled long pips users (the majority) is like talking to a schizophrenic. who could take pride in that?

The purpose of vertical throw for 6 inches would be not to allow fast (low contact point) and heavilly spinned ball (if allowed to hit the ball back horizontally on the racket). If someone does not throw ball for whole 6 inches whilst the contact between racket and the ball is above the height of the net (that is circa 6 inches), referees tend to not make a big deal out of it as it really is not a big deal. The contact is visible, he does not pull the ball towards the racket, he is throwing pretty vertically, only the vertical flight is maybe not the whole 6 inches but it did not enable him any kind of superserve..
