    I took a tour at Nasa with a Dutch astronaut as guide. He said that at test about 6 experts are around you watching you and taking notes while you take a dump; Not a real pleasure.

    Chris Hadfield wasn’t thousands of miles above the Earth’s surface while serenading us with his guitar. The ISS is only on average 250 miles above the surface and the shuttle’s maximum operational range just barely reaches the Hubble Space telescope at 353 miles.

    This is interesting. It makes me think of space making people return to an earlier stage of development like a baby tethered back to its umbilical cord. The biological changes of space like the loss of muscle and the expansion of the spine, make me wonder of the changes lifeforms would have to make if they could somehow live in space, what types of bodies might they have evolved.

    There was a story I heard where they saw a fellow astronaught out of the module .. he was banging on the window asking to let him in... but that astronaught was right there next to them. They both looked at each other as if they were both watching the same thing.

    As a teen I spent a few months tipped backwards, in spinal traction after an accident. When I eventually stood up again I had gained and inch and a half in height (I'd stopped growing long before) and couldn't balance for 5 weeks.

    5:53 I actually intend to use much of the Apollo 13 soundtrack if I ever get to go to space. Of course, I think in this context he means the dialogue piece after "Spirit in the Sky." It is called Housekeeping, and they first do a roll maneuver, and then stir the oxygen tanks. This is when the explosion occurs, and it is included in the piece.

    Neither Chris Hadfield, nor any other astronaut since our last trip to the moon, has been "thousands of miles above the earth's surface". Both the shuttle and the ISS only orbit around 300 miles or so above the surface.

    Low earth orbit is still well within the magnetosphere, you'll soak up more rads than on the surface of the earth, but not as many as you might think
