ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
Saxenda is the new name given to Victoza in 2014 by owner Novo Nordisk when it was discovered that Victoza often caused weight loss. It belongs to a larger class of drugs called incretins. These were discovered by Dr. Eng from the saliva of the lizard called the Gila monster. These have become blockbuster drugs with revenue rising to $3.5 billion in 2015.
Advantages - these meds appeared to save the beta cells of the pancreas and prevented the hypoglycemic episodes seen with insulin. However, the impact on the beta cells may have turned out to be the source of the biggest risk: pancreatitis.
The LEADER trial showed improved cardiovascular outcomes for diabetics taking this medication. So, there are clearly opportunities, but risks as well.

Nope. You can eat full Keto on these meds. Their impact is more that they decrease your focus on food.

If my insurance won’t cover Saxenda but will cover victoza could I take that instead? I don’t want to use it for long, only to get my weight loss back on track. I’ve been taking addipex for close to two years and have just stopped loosing and only maintaining even though I am a considerable amount more active than I was in the past. I’m just looking for some guidance to bring it back up to my doctor. (If it helps to know, I have PCOS and endometriosis which before I started taking agesytin, I probably didn’t spell that right and I’m sorry.)

I grabbed some of this just as a hack to see if it made 36-48 hour fasts easier and holy moly. I've taken 160 calories from a post workout shake and it's been 3 hours and I can't even stand to think about food. Definitely not something I'm gonna continue but was an interesting self hacking experience the past 2 days

+dalal asiri I know many people on Victoza. And many, many more on Metformin. They both help with weight loss. And they both help with diabetes. Metformin is safer. It has a proven record of safety. There is more potential risk with Victoza. But that risk has not been proven. There has just been enough experience with the drug. That will take time. Remember, this, though. It isn't just a question of the unproven risk of Victoza. It's also the proven risk of diabetes and overweight conditions that you must balance. Overweight - and especially diabetes- have proven to be some of the most dangerous conditions your mother could have.

Victoza at 1.8 strength gave me constipation big time, depends on the food I ate, drowsiness, tired all day, sleepy, no energy, my body and scalp itching badly, dry skin, my ear buzzing often too.. I've been jo-jo-ing on my those, cutting back to 1.2 or even .6 to see how the side effects changing. Lost a little bit a weight in the last 2 months, only positive effect and my BG not jumping around like before. I was on Bydureon before for a month, the first week or two it was great than the same happened, nasty itching, dry skin on my shoulder and neck. Scratched my self bad!

Victoza been out over 10 years, no one reported any cancers or tumors? That's come from rat studies. You have to be careful about the food and amount you eat, because Victoza slows down digestion, so you feel fuller longer. Stay away from heavy protein or fatty foods, breads, burgers, pizza etc... they take too long to digest, causing constipation. Also, inject Victoza late night! Eat more vegetables, fibers. I found those frozen food, Cafe steamers, Smart ones etc... are great. Cost $2.50 and I can control my portions easy and to know my the carbs and calorie intake. Most are 200-300 calorie/meal, but eating a small salad or soup before works out well, quite filling. Also, eat nothing late night, like after 8 pm till morning, only drink water if you feel hunger! After a while, 2-3 month you get used to it! I all ready lost 25 lb's, my BG, A1C dropped from 8.7 to 7.2. Still have to work on it more.

OK! You welcome! I also tried Bydurean and Trulicity, theses drugs didn't gave me digestion problems like Victoza, but horrible itching. Many people reported heavy itching from Victoza! My insurance didn't cover the other drugs either, so I got stuck with Victoza, but cost FREE! Bydurean is great otherwise, it stimulates the pancreas and works on the brain to block the hunger hormones. Also, lowers the blood pressure. With Bydurean I can go from noon till next morning not to eat anything and not even thinking about food. Bydurean is synthesized from the Gila monster's venom, hope you know, so it's a different drug than the others. animals.sandiegozoo.org/sites/default/files/2016-11/animals_hero_gila_monster_0.jpg I think, it depends on the individual's immune system, which drug is effective or works at all? I think, they all have side effects more or less! Try Bydurean if your insurance covering it. It's once a week injection!
