I know?! I was literally just about to comment on that and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t posting a multiple repeat. I want to know what amp she’s using?! I just started playing (less than a year) but I caught on weirdly quick in some things and others severely lacking. I could play the Sublime Santeria solo after 3/weeks about %60 but really bad tone. I realized I was pushing and fretting waaay too hard and got bad tendinitis because I would play like 5/hours a day and sometimes forget to eat. Anyways I’m just starting back healthy after 4/months off no surgery thank God. I have a Yamaha THR10II and a Katana MKII100. Found some new hires at work on shear luck that heard me talking. One plays bass and the other is a kick ass drummer. We play mostly 90’s rock. But I want to know what amp she used for this perfect Weezer tone?! Looks like she definitely hit the foot switch or pedal perfect as the distortion kicked in… but it’s such a clean distortion on a SSS pups. No 60cycle hum on that Strat so maybe a noisegate/compressor? I’m thinking a Solid state amp like a Yamaha THRII or a Boss Katana maybe… either way I like that she plays standing because I was in a (Jam band) before I could play standing without looking. I learned things I never would’ve playing with a drummer and bass player. Like playing in time for one and which frequencies I need to dial down so I don’t drown out the bass player or our drummers kick. God it’s so f***** fun playing with a live band!!! 🤘

@@lewismcclean6008it's not! A musician takes advice from more experienced and builds on their knowledge. Take offence and taking criticism personally will only stunt your growth as a musician. I personally use different voicings for the "reagge" strums on this song

This take didn’t take long. Her finger placements through transitions are so accurate. Well done fellow artist, seriously. The precision is…hard work shown…and well noticed to say the least. Anyone else notice her solid ass pedal transition, Boss ds….something it sounded like. That clean to distortion was as close to flawless as ya can get. Couldn’t even tell. She probably has a full pedal board down there. Darlin, whoever you are. Please keep playing.

Hello! Really nice to hear that you’re leaning to play, massive well done to you! When I say “started learning X days ago” I’m referring to the song, not the guitar itself. I had been playing for a few years when I uploaded this cover. Just making sure you know the circumstances as some people think I started learning the guitar a few days ago and can already play like this I actually uploaded a newer cover of this song a few weeks ago as this one here is nearly 2 years old 😆 Also always here if you have questions or need advice if you need it! You never forget what it was like when you first start playing lol. The beginning is the hardest, gets easier from then on!

First attempt means I still practiced the song, recorded the song multiple times in the same day and posted the best one so future attempts have to be and sound better. This was the best I had at the time, so the next attempt needs to top it, if that make sense? Also I had been playing the guitar again for about 2 years at this point. There’s no way I could’ve learned this for one of my first ever songs. I think I would’ve quit, I started off in easy songs 🤣🤘🏻

i know this video’s really old- but just wanted to say for those verse chords, if you slam your pointer finger down on all of the bottom strings and all you have to do to switch between them is move your middle and ring finger, makes switching to that d major shape really easy

Nice! You nailed the dude that's not singing. Really like your Strat sound. I don't have a Strat (Les Paul). Those sparse, reggae chords make this song so great. I love the bluesy fills. If I am correct, another thing I love about this song...the chorus has the same chord progression as the verse, yet they sound so different. Nice job!

I have rehearsed it for many hours per day. I do this with all my covers! I learn a song and then practice it any chance I get. I then go to record the cover. I will record myself doing the cover multiple times. I then pick the best video and then upload that as my 1st Attempt video 🤟🏻 Needed to let you know the process, can't have you thinking I play like this without practicing for multiple hours a day lol. Thank you for the kind words though I appreciate it a lot! :)

I found her channel on accident as a new guitar player (10 months) looking to learn “Toadies Possum Kingdom” and I clicked her short because she was actually standing while playing. You can see her progression in her old to new videos. Her rhythm and her alternate picking and just looking more comfortable and relaxed. BUT THIS TONE WHEN SHE HIT THAT SWITCH?! Omg… hit so hard and clean, it’s perfect and she’s on a SSS pups?! Wondering if it’s a Yamaha or maybe a Boss Katana solid state? But it’s fantastic… she’s better than me for sure. I had a lot of recovery (tendinitis) down time to dive into the Katana and some scales and theory etc. but she seems to be learning the right progressions. Also took note of her up strum on the chords, a lot of really good experienced players would down strum that. I learned playing “Santeria” that it’s definitely not as easy as she makes it look…
