Gene Ween is one of the most talented songwriters to ever have lived, and I'm glad I found his music

Gener's love songs are so personal and so relatable. Will always be one of my favorite song writers of all time

My favorite Ween song of all time. Starts with nothing but positivty, doubt in the middle, and a broken heart by the end. No band has ever gotten so much emotion out of me, whether it be laughter or the complete opposite. I love this.

I'm kind of mad at them for leaving so many beautiful songs out, they could totally make a shinola vol 2 nobody would complain...

Aaaaaaahhhhhh. Good ol' Ween. So reliable. If I'm tired or having a day where I need to chill out or brighten my spirits, I just play some tunes by these guys. Never has a band, ever played more variety of songs. And that's why they are basically a perfect group.

Ween's unreleased b-side material is better than 99% of all other band's regular catalogue.

Same... I filled up a CD with mp3's of this stuff. Thank the Boognish for Browntracker! ... and for KZread, for that matter; it's almost all here, in decent quality. P.S. I'm all about those Caeser demos; that could've been an amazing double album. Boy would I love to hear it in lossless or even good lossy...

Has a Beatles sound to it in my opinion. I flew out to Broomfield for the first show since the breakup. Saw them at the Aragon in Chicago in March and tonight I'm seeing them at the Nelsonville Music Festival in Nelsonville Ohio. WEEN is the greatest band EVER!!!!!

this is a song that you could compare with "Freedom of 76" it has that smooth grove quality

"I'll show you how to defuse a mob, if you'll give me your heart" -- best lyric-line of the age. All of the top 500 best lyric-lines are from other Ween songs.

I've listened to plenty of great music on LSD - but this is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life.

If you listen to the other demos they have you will see the same trend. This is because every album has it's own "Fucked Jam".

Yeah, they scrapped it. Deaner said it was frustrating to decide which demos made the first Shinola. They have LOADS of tapes filled with demos.

Thats a damn shame, Shinola was epic. The only good to come out of the ween split is that they can continue to release their old reel to reel recordings. I believe they were recording with reel to reel up to the end. Deaner prefers the sound of reel to reel, and i have to agree with him. Actually, i think all ween should be listened to on vinyl

Shinola Volume 1 was supposed to be continued with recordings such as this. Not sure if they scrapped that idea or not.

@RecreationalMeds That's pretty close to what I figured out. Except I play the 7th extension on Bm7, E7 and Em7. And instead of the F# I play an A#m7b5. It has mostly the same notes but it sets up the key change a little better. From A major to B major. Key changes like that usually involve some trick, That way the #A chord(just the root) functions as a VII when it turns to B major. Not sure what's right, I like your Fm chord, but that's likely how it would be explained in theory. Clever song.

did you know the weird synthy sounding thing is just a preset on a Microkorg? I seem to enjoy that song less after being told that by a friend because it seems cheap and lazy, but i enjoy my Microkorg more considering that probably means they used that synth for other stuff on Quebec.
