Not a single Oakland leader lives in Marin County.

Oakland has been deteriorating since before covid since the first 2008 housing crash when investors bought all those foreclosed houses up many that are still just sitting vacant (I have one next door for 14 years) Sheng Thao definitely isn't helping anything. Remember, we actually voted for Lauren Taylor but Sheng Thao got all those second place votes in our ranked voting system. Winning by second place is called second place. Oakland has a second place mayor.

No, that would be a fair election. I think there was actual election fraud with ballot stuffing and what-have-you. Thao and D.A. Pamela Price were the machine candidates. I wondered where they got the money for all the slick campaign literature they were sending to my house. I hear their funding came from George Soros. On Election night both of them were losing. Then all of a sudden the two of them pulled ahead in the last minutes of the counting. I don't think that's because of the ranked-choice system. It's because of hanky--panky with the ballots, in my opinion. The machine candidate always wins. Thao may have been people's second choice, but by voting for her, the voters expressed that she was an acceptable choice. If they didn't want her, they didn't have to vote for her at all, not even for 5th place. Remember that. When I voted I didn't rank any candidate I didn't want. Even though I could have voted for 5 candidates, I only voted for 3, because I just plain didn't want the others as mayor at all. With ranked choice, if there is only one candidate you want, and you're opposed to all the others, then you just vote for that one candidate, and leave the other choices blank. Don't vote for what you don't want.

Oaklands always been known for being pretty ruff. This however is 3rd world. Many cities are going the same way quickly.

Our cities are dying if not dead already. I have watched this happen in Los Angeles where I lived for 44 years, give or take a year. I had to go.😢😭😓😠😠

So you are telling me that San Francisco, one of the richest cities, just 20 minutes away without traffic (4 hours with traffic hahaa) can do fine and Oakland looks like something out of Mad Max. Gee i wonder why? Is it perhaps, a certain "community" that treats their own city like garbage? Could it be the clientele? Nah, MUST be something else right? Well, for your info I lived in the area 23 years, SF, Alameda, Oakland and the ONLY thing that separates them is the people that live there, period. BLM right?
