The punchline is that the lawyer for the plaintiff is maybe working pro bono (maybe the plaintiff does not have money to pay for the lawyer), but Colin twists it and implies that pro-Bono actually means that the lawyer is pro-Bono (that will act in Bono’s favor). (Bono is U2’s frontman.)

I understand that in the beginning, on SNL, they shared an apartment because NYC rents are so high, so I think the fact taht they're good friends in real life makes it so much easier with their "back and forth" remarks.

@@dilekben - it was an oblique reference to a much-discussed photo that week in which Kellyanne Conway, one of Trump's favorite ass-kissers & lie-spreaders was casually perched shoeless on a sofa in the Oval Office. On and off throughout the episode they had Kate posed that way with no comment whatsoever on the fact that she was there. They just counted on people to get it.

i do really enjoy how the weekend update guys keep trying so hard and the crowd is giving them nothing. week after week they go for the harsh jokes. it great!

I've been watching SNL since it's inception. Still, at no point in Weekend Update at any time, IMHO, has the comedy of the side guests ever been as good as the presenter(s) and their material. It is always a step down from what precedes it. I understand that fellow members can work out new characters during the news bit and chew up some time but this usually becomes an anchor to the flow of the best news-based comedy bit ever made. The lone exception to this rule, again IMHO, is Bill Hader's 'Stefon'.
